I have a Jayco Jay Flight 27BH Travel Trailer that I purchased new. I really have enjoyed my TT, however, I am a DAV and need the simplest unit to use! On the 27BH the only reason that I might trade is the couch set up in the trailer, and if the Class C is easier to use for me!
How many of you have had both types of RV's and which did you enjoy the most? Which one is the easiest to setup and take down prior to travel?
We are thinking of upgrading in the near future and have tried to determine the best unit for full timeing, as well as my limitations when it comes to setting up and taking down...
I know both have their own list of Pros and Cons, just thought I would check with you guys!
I have had two pop-ups, a travel trailer, a park trailer (still have) and a class C (still have). By far, the park trailer is the easiest because I leave it parked on a leased seasonal site. I unlock the door and turn on the water after driving my car 90 minutes on Friday after work.
If you want to travel to more than one campground, I think the class C is by far easier than a travel trailer. I don't pull a toad, so I don't have anything to hook up or haul down the road. I make sure I am going some place fun and I take everything with me. I even did a little stint last month where I had to move my class C 3 times in 3 days...it takes a few minutes to level (automatic levelers would be nice, but I don't have them) and a minute or two to hook up the water and electricity (depending upon how cold the hose/cord are).

We sold a small Toyota 22 ft motorhome (no slide of course) we loved because we needed more room. We bought a travel trailer(with a slide). Loved the extra room while we were parked, but still didn't seem to have any extra storage room. Two months after buying the travel trailer we traded it for a new 29 ft class C. The travel trailer seemed like a second job with all the backing up, pulling forward, hitching, unhitching, leveling. Constant work. Far more inconvenient ( have to pull over and "go back to the house" to take a whizz. Waaaay too hard to turn around... no way I'd take a travel trailer. I got about the same mileage with the truck/trailer as I get with the MH. My wife finds the motor home far easier to drive and we both find the motorhome far easier to handle in city driving and parking situations.
We bought a smaller type motorhome because we wanted the ability to drive down main street and park in regular parking lots.
Having given both a fair test, we both agree that the travel trailer was a bad idea and we're very happy to have only a short memory of it.
We had a TT for two years and then bought a 31' class C. Liked the class C much better as we didn't have to get out of the class C to eat or use the bathroom, especially on a hot humid, cold, or rainy day! Didn't have to get out to get out to take a nap and basically we preferred driving the RV instead of towing it. In conclusion, I would rather tow a small vehicle (toad) verses a large RV (travel trailer). Bagman.
We started with a 25Z lite wilderness TT. WD hitch,Yukon Dinali, for TV. It only took 1 trip to the beach to realize I am not a TT person.Pulling the camper was white knuckle all the way. We sold the TT and got a Tioga SL31 (large slide). 1st The kids are not traped in the rear seats and to have a snack on the way is a breeze for the DW. 2nd the storage is great and self contained. 3rd the drive is wonderful I have no problem with DW driving the MH, but the TT she would not pull. One draw back was, when we arrived at the CG we needed to hitch a ride with friends to shop or just go out. So we have hooked up a Cherokee as a toad. I have not yet gone anywheres yet to dertermine the feel for this set up. As of right now I like the HM over the TT hands down.
We had a 21' TT and made two trips to the west coast from Vermont, now we have a 30' Class C and pull a toad. The class C is easier to use. Leveling, when required, is more difficult but otherwise everything else is easier. Others have given many reasons, all true, especially if it is raining. I think a toad makes it easier than having to break camp whenever you want to leave the GC for shopping, sightseeing etc.
I've owned a pup, a 21' TT, a 26BH, and now a 31' class C. IMO, the class C takes the prize hands down. We love it, and it's not leaving my possession anytime soon. I wouldn't give it up for anything. It's by far the easiest way to travel with 3 kids. Last year took it to Yellowstone for 12 days, no toad, drove it everywhere and where we couldn't drive it we walked. My greatest memories with the kids are in that rig. It's going to Orlando in Oct, again no toad. If I need, i will rent a car when I need it, much cheaper than setting up a toad and the extra fuel it will take to pull it.
But, by far, the greatest advantage...I don't have to stop unless I need to...no bathroom breaks, stretching breaks, food breaks...it's AWESOME!

I noticed the Toad aspect of towing and wondered if having to hookup and drop your toad made the setup issue a moot point when comparing the Class C to a TT?
I do not enjoy the TT setup but isn't having to hook up and drop a Toad the same as hooking up or dropping my TT? My DW and I can set up the trailer in about 10 on a good day...
Driving and backing a trailer is second nature to me so that is not a problem...my DW and I both do not mind driving the TT and once we drop the TT we do have our transportation with us for any excursions that we want to take!
You guys are definitely opening my eyes to the possibility of changing over to the Class C...just a few more questions for me to wrap my brain around, lol!
How many Class C's have automatic levelers? Any?

Not many C's have levelers, due to the extra weight.
Here is my history: 30'5th wheel 2 slides, was a little to big for us and wanted to get rid of the F250; next was a 19' Hybrid, no slides, was nice but a pain to setup and breakdown, so we hardly ever used it; now we have a 31' C and love it, quit setup and breakdown and we could get a small car for everyday driving. We are going to put a scooter on a front hitch rack for the weekend trips. The scooter should be all we need to make quick trips to the store if needed. Longer trips, we will rent a car from the city we are in for local visits.

I've had both TTs and MHs and by far the MH is MUCH easier to setup and tear down than a TT. I do, however, regard leveling jacks as a must on a MH. Connecting and disconnecting a toad with a good quality towbar is a lot easier and faster than hooking up a TT to a tow vehicle.
