Can anyone recommend a spot to camp - in a Class A with a toad - between West Palm Beach and Stuart for a week or two in July. We are going down for a show and will have dogs with us but want to stay and visit family afterwards. I found a couple state and federal parks that allow dogs with no size or breed restrictions, but they close the gates at sunset. That will make it impossible to have dinner with family. We dont need to be entertained, prefer quiet and privacy - but need to be able to get back home in the evenings. Any suggestions from other show dog folks on here?
BTW - since its always mentioned in other threads about ill behaved dogs in campgrounds - - our dogs are very quiet, happy, sweet and well behaved. They are both AKC CH, CGC and ATTS - and more - We pick up after them and always keep them on lead - but we need a place to walk them without prejudice and many places/people do not like certain breeds or types of dogs so it is not easy to find a nice quiet campground sometimes.
I hope those of you on here have some good ideas for us so that we may enjoy a nice visit with my folks.
Not sure where Stuart is and not sure how many dogs you have, but Treasure Coast RV is in Fort Pierce, very dog friendly.
Check out rvparkreviews.com and you'll probably find lots of places to go on the east coast.
Even tho they lock the gates, you'll get a combination or a card allowing you to re-enter after hours. Enjoy your stay. If we were going to be home at that time, I'd ask you to visit, but if nothing happens to prevent it, we'll be in Alaska then. We're just north of Stuart.
We just stayed at John Prince Park in Lake Worth, Florida. They are very pet friendly and allow 3 dogs. They have a nice dog walk and very peaceful and quiet park. Not many ammentities but, very quiet, relaxing and inexpensive.
Lion Country Safari KOA is not pet friendly.
Nettles Island in Hutchinson Island is pet friendly.
