I came across a photo of Mark and Patsy made several years ago at a rally at Deer Run near Troy, AL. I look forward to a future one with both of them in attendance! Get well Patsy, and Mark - stay well. You both are fine people.

Well, since the last entry was quite a while ago, I thought I would bring this back to the front with an update.
Today we got the wonderful news that Patsy can at last start putting full weight on the left leg. The right leg will still be nonweightbearing for a couple more weeks. She will now go to outpatient therapy so they can be more agressive with her workouts. According to the surgeon, her bones have healed very well and she is ready to start getting back into the swing of things. Of course, she is still very weak and it will take a while to build up her strength.
Also, we have still heard nothing about the woman who hit her. The grand jury met a few weeks ago. When I called the DA's office to find out the results, I was told they couldn't tell me until an arrest was made. So it sounds like they are oing to get her for something. We just don't know what.
All of the prayers that were made on her behalf have been very much appreciated. We thank you very much. I hope someday we can meet you around a campfire. You are always welcome at my site.

Hi Mark,
I just looked back at the date this thread started 4/30/2008.
Thank you for the update on Patsy. More good news and that is wonderful.
It looks like the Dr's have done a very good job and now comes the hard part for Patsy. Patsy must be a very strong willed person to have gone through all of this and to have come this far.
Our best wishes and prayers are still coming your way. We are looking for more updates and good news as Patsy progresses!

We don't know one another but I think of ya'll often and wondered how she is getting along. Great news.
On a side note:
Unless Alabama is different than the other 49 states, after a Grand Jury indicted someone, it is an open record meaning it's open for public knowledge/viewing/etc. Arrest warrants have always been an open record. I think your DA may be feeding you a line if he's telling you the other driver has to be arrested before he can tell you anything.
Never pass up a chance to go somewhere

Just got word from our attorney that the woman who hit Patsy head-on was indicted by the grand jury for first degree assault. There is a warrant for her arrest and her bond will be $50,000. Finally we may see some justice done here, if they can find her. Hopefully she will go to jail for a long time.

I know it has been a while so I thought I would put up an update on Patsy. Yesterday we went to Birmingham for a followup visit with the surgeon. The good news is Patsy is now cleared for weightbearing on BOTH LEGS!!!! She has to wear a 3D boot on the right leg for a while for support. As she gets better at walking she can remove it a little at a time. This morning she walked FOR THE FIRST TIME since the accident 4/30/08. She has to use a walker, of course. We are very happy with this as you can imagine. Thanks to you all for your prayers and thoughts as we have gone through this summer. It has meant so much to us. Hopefully the recovery will go even faster now and we can get back to our lives as best we can.
For those who care, the woman who hit Patsy has been charged with Assault 1, a Class B felony and is in jail waitng for trial which is scheduled for Dec 8.
