We are going to Fort Wilderness in June and was hearing about the dinner passes. I heard that if you stay 7 nights which we are you have to buy 7 days worth of passes. We would like to go to dinner a couple of nights and 3-4 days for lunch but it seems that we have to buy the whole thing or nothing. That's why we are taking our 5th wheel to eat-in most of the time but wanted a few nice dinners and some luches. Passes are $38/person/day + tax. Did I hear right or are there other options?
Thanks

Sorry, looks like the link doesn't work. Type in " dining " in the keyword search.

We are a family of 5 2 adults 1 child and 2 infants we dont have to pay for yet, and the dining plan works out for us because we hit the character buffets and everyone eats so ditch doc is right on. Unfortunately they do make you buy the plan for your whole trip, but if you get the plan you can do some serious fine dining at their upper scale restaurants if you choose. We did dinner in the castle with the fairy godmoms, and it was nice, not to over charactery you get a nice photo (2 If your a party of 5 or more) and it is pretty elegant! We also ate at Boma in Animal Kingdom lodge it a regular dining credit but you get some great cuisine from africa. Now if you were to go to just those restaurants alone it would cost you close to 300 with tips and drinks, but if you take the meal plan it will cost you $600 and you get food for every day, and it is alot of food. We think its worth it because you do get a lot of bang for your buck. Also if I am correct they are offering free dining with your stay at fort wilderness during the month of june, you just have to ask the cast member when making your ressie. PM me if you have more questions, we are semi-disney freaks, and my wife was a travel agent so she has a great mindset for the rationlization of it all. One final point, between the dinners out that you would like to do and the food you will buy for you fiver it would probably equal out in cost as well. But once again with the dining plan you eat well and get some great deserts!!!!!!!!

Additonally if you were in the parks and didnt plan lunch or dinner at the park that day you would have to go back to your trailer and sometimes time is money when your on vacation. Obviously money is a factor but if you think about it, the benefits out weigh the costs.

Thanks for all the help I called Disney to get the pricing and the cost will be about $1120.00. My kids are 11 and 13 and are considered adults.

My family and I just got back from 10 days at the Fort. We did not opt for the dining package. We carried about $200 worth of groceries with us and ate out three times while we were there. We ate at Mexico in Epcot, Rainforest Cafe at AK and and Planet Holywood. All three meals and drinks cost less than $400 for our family of 5. We would usually eat a good breakfast at the MH and then go to the parks mid morning. We would then return to the MH mid-afternoon for a rest and late lunch/early dinner. After that would head back to the parks until closing. The whole 10 days we only spent about $600 total on food. That calculates to $12/day/person. We never went hungry and more times than not had more than we could eat. In fact even with all the walking my DW and both managed to gain a couple pounds each. Unless you are big time into eating alot I wouldn't bother with the dining plan.
