On another thread the question was posed - anyone use their rig self contained.
Aside from many that boondock a lot - there are some that just do it and do not think anything about it.
When I had my heart attack - Sunday in May 05, I was nearly to the La Crosse hospital. I parked in their ER lot and everything (for me) was downhill from there on. That was the 16th.
Wife is unable to drive our coach and had to search for someone in hospital to move ours. Maintenance man was able to.
Wife then stayed in the motorhome each night until I was released a week later. No services, no hookups, nothing at all. Generator worked nicely and we always carry plenty of water. It was wonderful because I knew she was safe and comfortable in it and I was undergoing surgery and recovering in the hospital just a few hundred feet away.
Later on the Dr's told me that every once in a while they do have someone come in for some medical issue and stay in their motorhome.
Personally - I think that all hospitals should expand this a little and have available a few full service pads for their customers. I would not mind paying at all - the convenience far outweighs the cost as long as it's reasonable.
Just try getting a motel room in Rochester - the cost is outlandish. Of course - their RV spots are very high also.
God Bless

Our local hospital does have a few full hook up sites behind it. They are always being used. A nice service for the patients and families.

Hi Our local hospital is regional in nature and maintains RV slots with hookups at no cost to the families of patients who are hospitalized. It is a very real benefit to many. Bill

I know that Providence Hospital in Anchorage has some RV spots with electricity. I haven't actually noticed if they had water and sewer. The Alaska Native Medical Center doesn't have hookups, but mostly when patients come from remote areas, they and their family stay in the hospital's transient housing unit. I don't know about the other hospitals in the area. I did think that it was a very good idea when I saw I saw it at Providence.

sounds like a good idea to me I would much rather stay in familiar surroundings like my TT than try to sleep in a motel or a chair at the hospital.
And with cell phones you could be reached in a hurry if needed.

Some hospitals have hook-ups, and they're always free, as far as I know. I stayed near one in Mobile, Alabama a few years ago. It didn't have a dump, however, just 30 and 50 amp service. Good security on hospital lots, just like Wal*Marts.
I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

Hope all went well. Are one hospital in town has a hard time finding parking for the staff. The last two years the staff was bussed in because of work been done at the hospital a new parking garage still hard to find a spot.

St Helena Hospital (Napa Valley) has about 8 spots with 30 amp and water. For scheduled surgery they will reserve a site for you and security will make sure it is open when you arrive.
It was a definite stress reliever for me when my wife was in to be able to stay there and not travel the 100 mile round trip

We could of set up a trailer at our Children's Hospital.. I would of much preferred that but unfortunately didn't have a trailer when my twins were born 13 weeks prem.
i think its a great idea having somewhere to park for out of town patients and families.
