Me and my wife are in the 100K range, do we deserve the money? I take home about 74% of my pay each week, and at tax time the last couple of years got less than $1000 back, probably owe next year when we lose the tax write off for the twins. Do the rich only get to keep 75% of there money? But we also have propety tax to pay, and sales tax, taxes on gas, plates for the cars, motorcycle, trailer, plus other taxes I may be missing, maybe we are lucky to keep 65% of our earned income.

The more you make the less you get to keep percentage wise. In may tax bracket, between fed and state income tax, every extra dollar I make I only get to keep about 55% of. My overall tax burden is not 45%, but it is 45% on any additional money. So if I work overtime I only get 55% of it.

I also work alot of overtime to make what I'm making, but when you look at what you make for the year, and what you paid in total taxes for the year, what is the percent? not what you were taxed in for overtime, can I persum that people that make 4 million pay 2 million in taxes? and those that make 10 million pay around 6 million in taxes, since the more you make, the higher the percentage. Does Bill Gates pay around 95 percent in taxes?

My total percent was in the 25% range. The reason I don't get the check is because they go by AGI. If they went by taxable income then I'd get the stimulas check.

dont forget to save a percentage of the check to pay the taxes on this money next year

I don't think that's supposed to happen this time around.

No Bill Gates doesn't pay 95%. Ronald Reagan fixed that. In California the top tax rate is 11%. I think the top fed rate is 38%. So if you live in California and you make enough to get to the top bracket, then every dollar above that is being taxed at 48%. So the more you make the higher your overall percentage of tax will be, assuming you have to claim all that income as taxable income. Remember, there are ways to deduct certain income and cook the books. Much of it even legally.

Check the state you reside in. Some of them are going to tax the rebate.

If it's "cooking the books," it's called illegal. If it's legal, then it's all legal, not "much of it."

Well Im not trying to be out of line but someone here said they make in the 100K yr range and you call yourself POOR. If my income remains the same. It will take me 3 years to equal your 1 yr salary. Is it fair that I should pay MORE than you on taxes? Im a very big fan of FEES anymore. If you use it the most. It should cost you the most. You make more money, you should pay more taxes.
**Now you make 3 times the money I make, but we will be getting back the same amount of refund ? HMMMM!!
OH and BY-THE-WAY my rebate will be spent on rebuilding my DDs engine (I dont make enough to afford a new car payment)Not a pleasure rebuild either. 150,000k, spun rod bearing, and cracked block. It will cost more than my rebate. So I guess my REBATE will really go to MASTERCARD!! Is that American money?
