Hey Everybody,
We are planning a summer trip in 2009 to both thee parks and have not been there since the 70's. Obviously we are very out of date on both the parks. Would appreciate any information you can share on campsites and generally good do's and dont's. Thanks all and have a good night.
If you can give more specifics, you might get some responses. How long will you have for the trip? Do you want to stay in the park? Outside of it? Rustic campground or "resort"? Do you have a toad for driving around this huge area? Let us know what kind of information you want; you'll get plenty of it.
We were there last year, click on our family motto "gotta get away" in my sig. and it will take you to pics of our trip. We had a great time and can't wait to go back. Our only regret we wish we would have stayed longer at Yellowstone one week is not enough time.

It gets terrible mileage for a car, but gets great mileage for a house!
Since you've been there before, you know the park is huge, so I hope you're planning to spend much of a week in the area. If so, will you want to dry-camp the entire time?
Fishing Bridge CG is the only one inside the park with hookups of any sort (and it has full hookups); the rest are all dry-camping. There are also several private CGs in West Yellowstone, which is on the border of the park, and would be a good second choice as far as convenience goes, if you need hookups.
Check out www.nps.gov and go to the Yellowstone & Grand Teton sections for specific information. Several of the CGs in YNP now take reservations (30 years ago I think all except Fishing Bridge were first-come basis), and the reservations are handled through Xanterra, the park lodging concessioner. The site should help with a lot of the info you're looking for. Actually, not a lot has changed there in 30 years, except in the details.
