Hey everyone!

We're going to be around San Francisco and also Modesto Cali at the end of this month and need to figure out some places to stay with our 25 foot TT. I've been searching online. Prefer a place near SF that will allow us to drive into the city and look around. (Kids have never seen it.)

Thanks a lot!

Paul

Go to RV Park Reviews and look for the nearest city. The link is to San Francisco, but Candelstick Park is not highly recommended. On the upper right of the page are links to nearby cities. Check Petaluma, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. The Petaluma KOA and Pelican Point in Half Moon Bay are pretty decent.

From there, you can also navigate to Modesto.

San Francisco RV Park in Pacifica, just South of SF. Do Not even consider the park at Candlestick in SF. The Pacifica location is a good place to get off to Modesto without dealing with any heavy morning traffic.
If you don't mind staying about 45 minutes North of the City, try Petaluma KOA, it is nice for a KOA and has good reviews.

San Franciso and Modesto are about a two hour drive from each other on a good day. Hit commute traffic and it could take you longer. Are you looking for someplace to stay at both locations or someplace to stay where you could access both locations easier?

San Francisco RV park is the most near to the city and does have shuttle service within walking distance of the park. Beautiful Ocean view from your rig, parking lot type setting and a little pricey.

Two years ago we stayed at Wrights Beach. Some campsites are almost right on the sand. Gets a little windy but we liked it.Wrights beach is the part of the sonoma coast campgrounds. We had site 16.Another place is half moon bay, that is south of San Francisco. Another onr is Doran beach regional park.We have reservations to go this summer. Good luck. Check some of the county parks in Modesto

There are know Rv parks in Modesto. However there are some in the Manteca area, about a 15 minute drive north. We like the French Camp RV Park, very nice spaces and easy access on and off the Freeway ( HWY 99 ). We stay there twice a year, on our way to Arizona for the winter and on our way home in spring. I grew up in Modesto and all my family unfortunately still live there.

My brother lives in SF and I usually stay at Pelican Point in Half Moon Bay. Small park, surrounded (almost) by golf course with wonderful paved walkway along the cliffs nearby and stairs/good access to a great cove/beach. Recommend you make reservations. Town is charming. Have stayed at SF RV Park in Pacifica one time and won't again unless I have to. If you want to be on the cliffs there, you pay a premium. Feels like a crowded parking lot and is right off freeway.

Ten miles north of Modesto.
French Camp RV Resort
Fifteen miles west of Modesto.
Kit Fox in Patterson

Both are nice parks and would take the same travel time to Frisco.

Pleasanton is a nice area - 40 min drive into San Francisco and they have the fairgrounds.

We also like Del Valle State Park - partial hookups (water and sewer - no electric) near a nice lake with fishing and swimming and about a an hours drive north to San Fran. but if using the one park for both San Fran AND Modesto this might be a nice halfway point....
