What do you use on your cats for fleas? On another cat we had, the vet put an expensive brand, but it didn't seem to last. I have used the Sargents and other brands too. Recently we have a cat we are keeping in the house...no fleas in the house or on the cat for 8 months....all of a sudden the cat has a few fleas...??? I used Hartz...and its not effective...The cat stays inside except every week or two, we put her on a leash and harness for a short outside trek...or her "cat cage" for a few minutes..She doesn't care for either, so 99.9% of the time she is indoors....We don't have any other animals... Can you put the "store-bought" treatments on sooner than 30 days as they say?
Thanks
Carolyn

We use Revolution - applied once a month on the shoulder area - protects against fleas, heartworms, & ticks. Sam used to spend a lot of time outdoors in warm weather - now just occasionally - but never had fleas. It is available a prescription drug here but I order it from Petshed.com w/o script. slightly less expensive. You should have a heartworm test first, tho - if heartworms are all ready present, the meds could prove fatal.

My cats are indoor only, so don't need any flea preventative. If they did need it, I would use Frontline.

No product made by Hartz or Sargeants will ever touch one of my pets.

Don't know about cats, but I give my dogs a little garlic in their food. No toxins involved.

All 4 of mine are indoor only but they still occasionally get fleas. I use feline Advantage from the vet. One dose lasts 3 or 4 months on mine. I assume the fleas must sneak through the screens when the windows are open. All of mine love to sit in the windows and feel the breeze.

We use Advantage. Because we have to do this when she's asleep, I part Josie's fur very carefully (so I don't wake her) at the base of her skull until the skin is visible, then I quickly squeeze the tube. We use it on her once a month and we purchase it at the vets office.

I did use Frontline, and still have some, but no longer it. Once, before we went ft, at my dd's country home, there were feral cats around and we picked up fleas. The frontline did the trick, I found dead fleas all in our tub.

We're using Revolution. We live in tick country and the cats do like to snoop around outside (in fact, they insist on it when the weather is nice). Never seen a flea and we rarely see a tick.
