I'm not sure if I should say congratulations or I'm sorry, but I will go with the first and congratulate you on the impending birth. May all go well and you be blessed with a healthy new child. I only had two sons myself and then made the decision not to have more. Me and DH decided since I was having a C-section it would be easier for my to have a tubiligation. I told the doctor unless he could guarantee a girl, I was not going through that again.

I am sure this is a shock and a surprise, but just make up one more bed in the house and tt and let God be your guide.

Congratulations. It is so amazing how you are going to love this one just as much as the others when it's born. Neither one of ours were planned as they are 17 months apart. They made such great playmates I wouldn't have had any other way. Then later on I developed a cyst, so I asked the doc, while your in there could you go ahead and tie my tubes and give me discount on the bill, hehe, I am bad, but he did.

I too was in the same position with my first child. The diaphragm was supposed to be like 98% effective. Guess we were in the 2% on that one. That was a long time ago........
After we had my son in 1996, one of the first things I did was get myself "fixed".

My wife had one last summer and we found out that her uterus was split in two pieces, one side is 75% and the other is 25%. Some LONG medical name explains it. Anyways we lucked out and the baby formed in the large section however if it had formed in the smaller part, it would have most likely killed them both after the baby got to big. Only solution was to get me fixed which I did and recommend highly.

I'll 2nd the getting "fixed" part. Hubby did it about 6 months after I was diagnosed with the heart failure and although it wasn't pleasant it wasn't traumatic or highly painful, either. Little risk, lots of reward. Enjoy the bundle. Now that my son is 16 more than ever do I wish I had another one.

I can't even imagine the range of emotions you've gone through and are continuing to go through! Although quite unexpected, you're going to love having a third child. I have two sisters and a brother, and we have so much fun together, especially now that we're all adults! I've always felt that being an "only" must be awful. My girlfriend has just a brother, and she's not really as close to him as one would think. When my family gets together for Christmas, it's just a blast! We trade names, etc. We have "extras" to rely on when we need a sibling and we'd all do anything to help one another. As my dad always told us when we were growing up:

Quote:

Friends will come and go, but your siblings will always be there.

Now, while that might not be true in some families, but it has certainly held true in ours.

I always wanted more than two, after seeing the relationship my friend has with her brother and how things are rather "boring" when it comes to holidays, etc. and I'm thrilled to have three! I must admit, three is NOT easy. As my former boss once said to me (she also had 3 kids), you only have two hands. BUT, it DOES get easier! I can't imagine what my life would be like without my three kids. I absolutely adore them, even as they drive me crazy at times!

Congratulations to you both, and enjoy your new miracle! May he or she be healthy and happy and give you all the joy in the world.

Julie

My first husband was diagnosed as a "tumor" way back in the 1953. Well, turned out he WAS in some ways! LOL!

My fourth child was a birth control failure. It was a shock, but he was as well-loved as the rest and has been (mostly) a blessing.

It happens. My grandmother always said "I know God will never give me more than I can handle, but damn! I wish He didn't have so much confidence in me!".

It'll all work out. Congratulations!

My son in law and his wife (he's divorced from my daughter) have 3 kids, 8,4 and 11 months old and I having more fun that ever. This weekend I'm taking the 4 year old and two of his cousins (6 and 5) to my sister's in Missouri. I'll have a ball. The son in law's wife talks about number 4 and I'm all in favor.

Some years ago Benjamin (Dr. Spock) gave a speech in Des Moines. He said there is a medical term for women who use rhythm as birth control. They're called mothers.
