No disrespect, but I sure hope you're not looking at buying right now. If you do decide to buy give me a call. I have some really nice camping paper plates, plastic utensils and plastic cups for your new rig. They are top of the line but I'll be willing to part with them for say.....$500.00 cash?
The only business I see booming right now is the gasoline/oil business. Don't let these salesmen tell you their business is booming. Make a mental note of the units on the lot and walk away. Go back in a month or so and you will probably see the same units there. They'll be lucky to sell one or 2 at most.

If you dont START negotiating at 20 percent off MSRP, you are getting ripped off. MSRP in the RV business is a joke...too bad there is no Edmund.com as in the auto business so that we can see exactly what a dealer pays for his units.
You can go to one of the direct, non inventory dealers and price out a unit...subtract 2 or 3K and probably be close to invoice. We bought our unit for 35 percent off MSRP, and the dealer made money !

When I bought my 5th wheel in 2001, I went back and forth about 5 times. I kept trying to get a better price. The list price on for my 5th wheel was $54,500.00. I got a $10,500.00 trade for a 5 year old tent trailer and a 15 year old travel trailer. I had to pay $24,000.00 plus the trade for my 5th wheel. The total price was $34,500.00 including the hitch. The price was $20,000.00 less than the list price. I know how to bargain to get the best price. I just hate doing it! It would be nice to walk into a dealer and get their best price right away. I think they would sell a lot more trailers that way.

The large rigs around here aren't selling - so 10% is a joke and you don't have to spend more then 5 minutes on EBay to find Cedar Creeks, Jayco's, Keystone's and others with 30% off MSRP for the "BUY IT NOW" price never mind the possibility of getting it less then that using the bidding system.
10% off says this is a low volume dealer who isn't trying for a sale.

Medium to higher end units have about 30% mark up on them. If you can get 20 - 25% off the MSRP you are doing well.
However, like was said earlier, keep looking around and keep tabs on the units you are interested in, those still on the lot after a few months will be available at a lower price.

RV sales as an industry are down. Motorized have plummeted, but towable sales are only down slightly. Considering auto sales and home prices, fuel costs and the ridiculous media, RVs are doing really quite well.
In my opinion, its motorhomes that are ruining the manufacturers. Companies to date that have bankrupt (within 18 months) King of the Road, Travel Supreme, Western RV, Alfa Leisure - all were towable manufacturers that toyed with motorhomes. Seems like a trend.
Recall that Coachmen, Thor, Jayco, and Forest River have all recently posted a profit.

I'm guessing you were at Bradford RV. We shopped there and really like Tom M. the salesman. He is honest and had great follow though with his customers. We tried to buy our Cedar Creek from them but found a much better deal at RV Nation in Ohio. Bradford RV, Pete's RV, and Camp America were all within $1,000 of each other, we went to Ohio and saved another $3,500 at the wholesaler.
Our big concern was warranty service locally, but our Cedar Creek required none and has had no problems for the two years we have owned it, including two seasons of winter camping as well.
