If you have an Align A Site, have you attached the site to the dish as the directions say? Or, can you just hold it? If you attach it to the dish, do you remove it when you find the satellite?
I bought one two years ago, but did not try to use it after I read how to attach it to the dish. I finally can set up the dish in the driveway, but we are going to a very shaded park and am thinking about giving the Align A Site a real try.
We've had our Align-A-Site for about 2 years now and are very pleased with it. It does indeed make the dish setup and pointing go very quickly. Yes, we've got the mounting block attached to the dish as the installation instructions noted. After getting the satellite signal locked, I do remove the actual site from the mount and store it.
Hi Pat,
I have been using the Align-A-Site for quite a while. I did install its base, as instructed, to the dish. The actual Align-A-Site piece does not stay permanently attached to the base. You scout the site using it in your hand. Find the initial place to put the tripod and then slide in the Align-A-Site piece to the base on the dish for final adjustments.
It always works like a charm. We also camp in very wooded parks and I am always able to find a "hole" in the trees to aim the dish. I strongly recommend you follow the instructions and permanently attach the base to the dish.

WOW someone stole my words exactly. This is one product that works perfectly!!!
Thanks for all the replies! I will go to Camping World and buy one this week-end. I had big problems getting the satellite to work, but one day I decided it couldn't be me as too many others get it to work. I bought a new dish and double LNB maybe(Lbn) and it worked in the drive. This after hauling the damaged dish 20,000 miles.
