Just put a deposit down on this rig and I fly out to see it Memorial Day weekend. Anyone have any feedback or what to look for other than the norm? This will be my first class A and dp and we plan to graduate to full time in eight years.

I have owned a 99 U270 34 foot and a 36 foot 2000 U 320 and now a 2001 42 foot. You see the progression. I learned over 185,000 miles that these units are really well built. The one I just purchased the 01 I am totally remodelling inside too. Put in new carpet and new chairs and table and a new shower as well. Why you ask to make it a new coach for a lot less money. I put in the wifi and cell repeater and the flat panel tvs too....
NOw what to look for. Is to see if it has been used and has milage on it. Most Foretravels do...
Look at the tires as they will need to be changed.. Where are you buying it. IF it is at Motorhomes of Texas they will do that for you in the price if they own it as they do not want the liability of old tires.
Look at the batteries too. They will need to be replaced. You will have the 8.3 ISC in there and that is a fine engine and you wiull have a retarder. If it is at the sump do not let it go over 220 or so if it is at the return then you can go to 250 or so.
2000 year has decals. Many owners take their units to James Stalling at extreme and have him eith paint a full job or just the decals., They are both reasonable but full paint is pretty expensive still> If I had my 2000 I would do the decal replacement. To change the tv and the carpet is a breeze too.
check and see if all th fluids were changed and the air dryer and filters as well. If so then you are goood to go if not it will set you back about 1800 ucks to have everythign changed and synthetic transmission fluid put in. I would put it in anyway due to the retarder if it has not been done yet. Then when you buy it call Bev at the Motorcade office and give her you model number on the plate by the drive and you will get one free year int he motorcade club and that is worth 10% off parts and labor too.
Also there is a fine yahoo site for foretravel owners too.

A fine choice! Hope you are getting it for a good price. U270 trim levels can be optioned up to nearly everything that a U320 could have. Join the yahoo group if you have in depth Foretravel questions.
You can also call Foretravel with the 4 digit coach number and they can give you info on the coach. You also qualify for a 1 year membership to the Motorcade club. See you down the road!

Thanks everyone for the feedback, the selling price is fair and I called Foretravel with the vin # and they only report one ding on the rear passenger side. Foretravel replaced the rear fender panel and end storage panel and said we shouldn't be able to tell any damage was done. We've been looking for six months and we were losing hope of ever finding anything.
I've never bought anything sight unseen and I hope and pray it is everything the salesman is promising. I will check the tires, batteries and oil as suggested.

I've put a deposit down on a rig in Louisiana on condition it is everything as promised when we fly out to see it. I have already called foretravel with the vin # and checked nhtsa for recalls and defects. The pictures are beautiful but in the last six months we have gotten our hopes up numerous times only to be disappointed when inspecting it.

IF for some reason it does not work out. YOu are not a far drive from Nac and you can go to Motorhomes of texas and the factory and see a bunch of them.
