I am getting a new TH with 2 new 12 volt batts included. I took the 6 volt trojans out of my old TH before trading in and instead of just chucking the new batts want to tie them in with the 12 volts. Any problems with this setup? I will be installing an inverter on these as well. Can someone send or explain how the wiring would look like for this setup?? (2 12 volts and 2 6 volts).

Thanks!
Chris

I'm not an electrical engineer but I do not think you should mix batteries, either all 12v or 6v

Two 6's in series are the same as one twelve. So + on 12, to + on 12, to + on one 6er. Negative on 12, to neg on 12, to neg on totally unconnected 6er. Now only connectors with no wires are a positive on one 6er, and a negative on other 6er, so connect them.

Finally connect TT wiring, positive to 12er positive, negative to 12er negative.

You don't say what you have for 12V batteries, Chris.....but JR is correct.....in short, mixing different battery types/sizes/ratings/age-condition will shorten their life....even when using a smart charger......

UNLESS you isolate them into two separate banks and use a "1, 2, ALL" battery selector switch (bank one--the pair of 6V, and bank two--the pair of 12V), and charge each bank separately.....

If you're still in doubt, check with Trojan C-S....
