Was parked for a few weeks where the water had a lot of minerals in it (south Texas). Hot water tank was dripping slightly down the outside. Thought it was weeping out the valve, but found it was leaking around the plastic plug. The leaking caused light streaks down the side, very noticeable on the dark compartment door. Tried to remove streaks with soap and water, then with liquid polish. Not successfull. The streaking is not just visual, but you can feel that there is a deposit on the finish. After I got home I tried using toothpaste (for the grit), with no help, then lightly tried liquid CLR (brand name for calcium, lime and rust remover). Still no success. Was afraid to get to aggressive with the CLR since it says not to use on painted surfaces.

I need some suggestions, please !!

Try vinegar on a soft cloth.

Straight vinegar will generally remove calcium & lime deposits. If the surface is etched, you'll likely need to go to a body shop for a professional touch-up job.

I used a 'washless vehicle cleaner' called Fastwax - it cleaned the water spots off easily, left over from rinsing the RV after washing with our really hard Las Vegas water.

I know you can get it online but I got mine from a local store where they were promoting it. If you have to wipe the coach you might was well use a cleaner/polish

Thanks for the tips. I will try them when I get the motorhome back from the shop. They have part ordered for the converter.
