Keep all the sugestions coming! I appreciate them all!
After talking to our friends from Vernon we are considering buying a small travel trailer for the trip. He says there are a lot of places they can take us that we don't need reservations for if we go smaller. He is going to put a list of places down and I will post them here so I can get feed back from all of you.
Thanks again.

I too have plans to visit Vernon. I have toyed with the idea of going to the track there.

Just let us know when you are coming up here Betsy II and we will try and see if we can camp with you if you like. As for the track, if you have never been to a stock car race before, just wait until they say 'Start your engines", and you feel the air shake!!!

I even raced my street car there on the king of the hill. I had a 90 Corsica V6 3.1L and beat a Probe and almost by less than 1/2 a car length tried to beat an IROC with a 5.7L V8.

A lot of folks do not quite understand the fundamental difference between Canadian (common) law and US (constitutional) law. As I understand it ( NOT a lawyer but a dual citizen) in US if there is not a law (or sign)specifying NO - you can do it! In Canada it is different - unless there is a law (sign in this case)saying you can - then don't.
So travellers - pay attention to when you cross a political boundary!

cruiserjs....eh? Maybe I am misunderstanding your post. Here in Canada I don't see many signs telling me I can camp by this bridge, creek, river, beach, tree, etc'. I have seen signs saying NO camping, overnight stopping, etc, oddly enough, in the same sorta places I see them in the US. So, again, perhaps I misunderstood.

Too, we don't post signs saying to not shoot your RV neighbor...we just hope people have enough common sense to not do that. Or park overnight in someone's yard, unless invited, a course.

www.discovercamping.ca will give you the provincial parks by region and the reservable times/availability. Kekuli Bay would fit your unit no probs. Just enjoy the Marmots

Lake is great for swimming too!

My dh raced his Iroc at the truck several years ago... i wasn't a happy wife...lol.

Track is great though, we go several times a year and even haul our trailer across town so we can camp at the track too. Works well not having to drag the kids home after a long night of racing...

I prefer the Shuswap myself as I find the Okanagan valley too congested.

I'll have to check out Sugar Lake though... been several years since I've been out that way.

Was that the day he beat a White Corsica? The one thing I remember was we put on quite a show at the start line with both of us laying the rubber and the smoke. When we came around turns three and four with me in the lead in three and the other car taking the lead into four, and crossing the finish line side by side, you should have heard the crowd screaming and cheering.

We stayed at the Kettle River Provincial campsite last weekend and it's one of our favourites. Lots to see and do especially if your into hiking or mountain biking, great tubing in the summer too. We like to ride on the old railbed, you can see alot of beautiful BC in this way. Plenty of places near Kelowna but they all book so fast, our favourite provincial spot bookings are all 3 months in advance and are filling up daily

A great spot near Vernon if you want to get out of the RV for a night is Lakeside Illahee Inn a 4.5 star B&B that is great. Sry not sure where to fit a 40' out that way.

My vote is for BC Provincial Parks This site lets you search a bunch of ways, we love to search by activity and find loads of new places to go

Best of Luck, I know you'll enjoy the area.

Ummmm ... I think you're one of those "folks".

Common law is a legal system that originated in England. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.

Common law is now in use in the United States, excluding Louisiana (according to Wikipedia). All provinces and territories within Canada, excluding Quebec, also follow the common law legal tradition.
