We did it! DH talked me into the new youngster, and we couldn't be happier. I was hesitant because am currently working obedience and agility with our year old dobe; didn't feel I had the time for another - what a JOY! Our Dirk is doing the potty training; she is 4 months old, and follows him everywhere outside paying close attention to what needs to be done.
I am glad I caved in....she is a total joy, and our Dirkie dog adores her. They are able to play, and sleep together when we are supervising - otherwise she is in her crate. Cant wait to take her camping - we camped in the back yard last weekend and she was fine.
Next weekend is our first trip out to a local state park!
Wish I knew how to post photos....they are angelic together!!!!
AND, DH is taking her to puppy class, just as he promised!
Congratulations!!! I've always said two are far more fun than one.
And when they're young they form such a strong bond with each other and the younger one does follow the lead of the older one, it's so much fun!
Enjoy....
Congratulations! They really are like potato chips, can't have just one! I love it when the older dog mentors the younger. I don't think I've had to potty-train a dog in at least 15 years! My two young corgi boys are also close in age, only 9 months apart. For a while it was a challenge training and working both, but we've sort of fallen into a rhythm now. Basically we alternate days. Keeping track of Pippin's Open/Utility obedience class, Buddy's agility class and his obedience/rally class night is as hectic as hauling a van full of children to soccer, ballet, etc, but I have yet to take the wrong dog to the wrong place. I do call them by the wrong name on occasion, though!

Yeah, we're on our forth dog in less than a year! And are up to a total of 7 when the newest pup arrives. We'll camp with 4 of them, the small Papillons, and leave the larger and older dogs at home, where they are comfortable.
Congratualtions on the new pup...they are a blast!!

Update: Took the two "kids" camping for the first time this weekend. Both were perfect. Fine travelers, wore them out before we left, so they both couldn't keep their eyes open for the 2 hour trip.
Wonderful weather, friendly folks camping, and really nice walks with the two of them.
It's going to be a great summer!
We did leave the cat home....she went all last year; but this new pup needs to learn not to chase and antagonize....this coming weekend taking her along as well to see how it goes!
