hit a brick flower planter with the storage door of my '06 Tour Master. Ripped through the aluminin and really looks ugly!!

Who repairs such things or can you order a new door that is color matched?

Thanks

Aluminum. It is also in an area where the paint/decals cross...

I suggest you start with an auto body
shop, and with BOAT repair shops.

Also, of course, with RV shops in
your area. Talk to the factory for
suggestions.

And.......call your insurance company first.

We have many FL members that can probably point you to the exact place to go.

If it's one door only I would call the factory or a dealer and order it. The factory could even paint it to match before they ship.

I have had little dings repaired and painted at my local auto repair center (they also service RVs) and it always amazes me how they can match the paint.

I know nothing about repairing aluminum!!

If you've actually torn a hole in the door, then probably replacement is the best way to go. It can probably be fixed, but it will eventually have cracks through the paint and never be the same. A new door from the factory will be costly, but it will be, well, like new.

As for painting it, any quality body shop can do that since it's detachable from the unit. As for paint matching, just get your paint codes from the manufacturer and they'll be able to do a pretty close to 100% match. I would guess paint is going to cost about $1000 for the door, especially since it's got multiple colors. The door could be about $750-1250, just a guess.

If it were me, I'd leave the insurance company out of the deal. It will only cost you higher premiums.

Mike, When I damaged a compartment door on our former Sun Voyager the dealer (Long View-CT) ordered a new one from Gulf Stream. The dealer had it painted as a stripe was involved. If I remember correctly ask for the 10% discount for parts ordered from GS.

NOT ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??????????????????

This may not fall under a collision loss, but a comp. loss with a lesser deductible.

Personally, I don't think the Insurance Companies need to make MORE money by not requiring them to handle their losses.

Having been in the business, we always ordered the door for the customer from the building Manufacturer and had it painted to match, then installed.

Good Luck !

Some doors have an outside alum. skin that can be replaced. Check on this. Good luck.

Had a pine tree sneak up & tear a rear bin door off a couple weeks ago. Majority of the damage was to the hinge area & torsion bar. Bin door itself wasn't too bad. Took it to a local auto body shop & they did a good job of repairning it for $519.00.
