I prefer to let air dry out the hoses rather than screwing the ends together.

I would rather have them wet than having to clean the bugs that crawl in them. We use them every weekend and flush them for a minute before using them.

When hose leaks. Seems to be about once every 7 years, as we use rollup HandiHose, great gadgets.

I drain the hose real well then screw the ends together to prevent uninvited guest.

Same here.

I'll let you know when I need to replace one. It hasn't happened yet.

How often do you replace the fresh water hose? Do you do it every year? How about one of those microbial hoses? Do they get replaced less often?

I'm using two that I got back in 1982 IIRC. I've also never sanitized them and never had issues, but we don't really use them for actually drinking, just washing and cooking.

This is great! I once retired a hose. I sold the Popup and bought a class A that already had a hose so I moved the old one to the dock for boat washing where it still works. I used to keep the ends open to dry till I got a really small rattler inside. I did not know about it until I removed the hose from the RV and found it. Must have been dead quite a while. Yuck! I connect them all together now. I use the hose to rinse the windshield before I hook up. That clears it out. Every so often I hook up the hose to the RV and then pour an ounce or two of chlorox in the faucet end. This is best done in a CG with full hookup.I fill the tank and then I run all the taps to fill the Grey tank and the black. Then Dump. Cleans it from the hose to the stinky slinky. Works for me.

I am on year #5 on ours. Water looks and tastes like it did in 2004. I have a Watts whole house regulator in series with a small tank water softener and thence to the RV. We use campground water in every case but at my sister's house along the Missouri River in SD, I buy bottled for drinking. Her water is 99% iron. Tests at 100 gr. hardness.

If the question is about sanitation, you do the same thing you do to your freshwater tank. Run bleach water through it to sanitize it. You should be bleaching (chlorinating) your freshwater tank at the beginning of the season -- just add your hose to the process too.
