We just brought home new 24' Layton Rampage toy hauler. We got it to haul motorcycles. We're concerned the ramp may be too steep and the bikes with hang up at the break at the trailer floor. The toy hauler we have used before had a dove-tail effect the last 12-18" of the floor of the trailer before the ramp. Has anyone ever modified a ramp? How did you do it? The bikes are HD Dyne Wide Glide and HD Heritage Softail.

Two, foot long 2x4 under the ramp got me by. You can also the jack up front before you hook up to lower the ramp angle. I never added a dove tail to mine.

IMO get two people, one on each side of Hog, and walk beside her as she putts up the ramp. If you high center, back down, block up door with 2x4 and use plywood to cover crack at start. Try again. Repeat until you do not high center. Do again with other Hog. Now add one 2x4 to the stack for luck. Nail the resultant stack together and find a place to carry both it and the piece of plywood. Note you can actually attach a hinged piece to the ramp to use instead of carrying the plywood. We prefer plywood as it can compensate for uneven ground where hinged ramp extension can not.

Once you have it figured out, it is easy. One note, ramps can be slippery, especially if a little wet. You may want to put a strip of that stuff like sandpaper with glue on the back that comes in rolls on the ramp. Looks funny but works great.
