Howdy!
I'm from Texas but had no problem registering our Rhino in Arizona last year. They issued us a MC (motorcyle) plate for street use.
When we were in Pismo Beach. CA I asked a Ranger if we could ride it and was advised it was not street legal.
We're now in Utah near Delta. I'm now wondering if it is legal to ride it here?

SoCalDesertRider wrote: Arizona used to have street legal registration for atv's many years ago, then did away with it, again many years ago. 3-wheelers were not allowed though, only quads or dirt bikes. I don't know any details about them now as I have been living in repressing Kalifornia for too many years.
Arizona still has street legal registration for ATV’s. My 2003 Honda Rincon is street legal and currently registered in AZ. I just received my yearly renewal notice. I do not have it in front of me, but I recall it was @ $65/year. Because it is over 5 years old, I have to run it through emission too.
Now and interesting question would be if the ATV’s driver needs a motorcycle endorsement on his license?

Yep, Horn (even a bike squeeze horn), brake light, license plate light and insurance are all that is required for street legal in AZ - love it!! There are dozens of folks, including us, in our little town that ride quads all over town. The biggest problem is the accelerated wear on off-road tires. Been trying to figure out where to find hiway tires that will fit a spare set of quad wheels - any suggestions welcome.
We have also ridden on streets in Marysvale and Richfield UT without any problems. Keep thinking about braving the challenge in Kalifornia but have not yet worked up the nerve. One would think that my AZ motorcycle plate would be just as valid in KA on my quad as it would be on a Harley.
BTW - MVD in AZ said no motorcycle endorsement needed for a four wheel vehicle.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.

Back in the day me and my friends all had street legal 3 wheelers in AZ. It was a site riding down the black canyon fwy on 250Rs. Mine was a converted Kawasaki triple. Some of the guys even would ride from Phoenix to Buttercup.
Why is it some folks spell California with a K (Kalifornia)? I know it is supposed to mean something but I don’t get it… (splain Lucy)

Not exactly an off-the-shelf quad. THat guy obviously went to a lot of work to modify the machine to make it CA legal.

3 wheels = motorcycle registration
Not many of us are willing to do this.

Yep must be all us inbred Jeds here in Florida. We drag race our 800lb 4x4 down US1. We drag all our old mattresses and boats out to the middle of the woods with them ATVs.
Bottom line people suck.
