You have to follow the directions when getting ready to tow it. The transmission must be placed in forward gear then neutral. You can't go from reverse to neutral as it will ruin the transmission. Further details are of course to tow it with key on accessory so front wheels track. And do not back up the rig when towing 4 down as front wheels may turn and not come back to proper tracking position. Read the owners manual and remember they weigh over 3000 LBS which means they require braking and breakaway systems in 35 states and Canada.

The truth is that VERY FEW states require brakes on a motor vehicle being towed. If you investigate those charts you will find they are for TRAILERS and a motorized vehicle being towed is not a trailer under most States definitions.
However, if you travel through one of the very few states that actually require brakes on motorized vehicles being towed you WILL NEED BRAKES. There is NO RECIPROCITY on equipment requirements unlike drivers licenses. You must comply with each states requirements as you go through them.

The Honda Fit isn't listed on the Motorhome Magazine approved towables list, but I called my Honda dealer and they said it was ok to tow so there you go.

You beleive a Honda dealer?? I don't know one way or the other if the FIT is towable but before I would buy a FIT, I would insist to see the owners manual to read for myself, the procedure that says "Towing behind a motorhome". If it is not there like it is in the CRV manual, I would be very wary of towing it 4 down. Just my opinion and offered as such, buyer do your homework.

I didn't believe the Motorhome Magazine towing guide when I bought my CRV. I read it in the manual myself.

You read it in the CRV manual yourself because it is there and it is approved by Honda.
And then you posted and I quote
" The Honda Fit isn't listed on the Motorhome Magazine approved towables list, but I called my Honda dealer and they said it was ok to tow so there you go." Unquote.
So did you in fact read the owners manual for the FIT or did you just beleive the HONDA DEALER that the FIT was towable?? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Again I don't know whether the FIT is towable or not because I have not read any FIT owners manuals yet. Have you or anyone else read a FIT manual?

That's WHY I can say it's towable, the owners manual says so as does their Customer Support!!
