I think so, but I've never tried it. It seems that my description above helped me decide. It's worth a try. He will still need a center off switch I think.

Center location is 'off', then it goes to one side or the other.

i really like the 15 cent fuse idea better. just think of all of the adult beverages you could buy with that electrical stuff!
