For the past few weeks birds have been attacking all the chrome on our RV. (over the entrance steps, mudflap, wheels & exhaust pipe). I'm also afraid they may be nesting in the engine compartment, and could that be a fire hazard to us?
We have an owl posted guard at the door, sometimes he works. But other than posting 7 owls around the entire RV, any other suggestions??
I know many will suggest ammunition, and we have tried that too. Although only a BB is allowed, since I won't let DH shoot that close to the RV, but it's not working either. These things WILL NOT stay still they jump around like crazy, pecking at the chrome. They are literally damaging it with their pointy beaks.
Please give me suggestions.

You can get a sticky substance at any good hardware store. You paint it on the places where they have to stand to do the pecking. They don't like it sticking to their feet and will soon leave it alone.
Then you are only left with the problem of cleaning it off. LOL!

Cover the chrome with a towel or tea towel, it is their reflection that they are after. You could also tape paper over the chrome and any mirror surface................

This is mating season. Once everything is sorted out, they will stop.
About the owl. Do you have it in plain sight? If it is, put it slightly out of view like under the edge of the rv. This is a more natural place to put it as owls do not sit out in plain sight. Birds get used to the owl sitting in view and it has no effect on them because they know it is bogus.

I don't know what size the birds you are having trouble with but in our orchard if we had trouble with birds in fruit trees we would drape nets over the trees and it would stop most average size birds. The ones that did manage to fly in from under were easly eliminated because they could not get out. The nets came in very large sizes from nurserys or farm suply stores. I don't think any would go over your entire RV but may be you could wrap some around it. After a while the birds should move on and nest some were else. It just sounds like you have a flock that thinks it has found a nice place to stay...After all you like it. HA HA HA..

I mounted an owl with a spinning head (from Walmart) on the side of our house mounted on a board sitting on top of two hanging basket brackets....I think the head that moves (with the wind) helps alot....although we still have some smaller peckers that aren't afraid of the spinning head.
Next year....it's the BB gun!!

I use small gage wire, insulate it and put the hot side of 110v on it, attach earth ground to mh, when the peck, they get fried. You do have to post signs, electrial hazzard, enter at your own risk.
