Has anyone run into a situation at a campground with their dog being over the weight limit? We have reservations in Canada in July and just got the comformation which states they won't take dogs over 30#. Our Tru is 33#. He isn't overweight, but we're going to try to get the 3 lbs off him before then. Guess what I'm asking is: how strict are they? Would they turn us away because of 2 or 3 lbs? Do they actually weigh them or go by the health records which will have his weight on them? I certainly don't want to get us there and have to board him for 10 days.
I can't believe they will weight your dog. It's most likely some insurance restriction with the thinking of small ankle biter would cause less damage than big dogs. I wouldn't worry about the extra 3#. BTW, do you have any idea how hard is to shed a few lb off them? I have been trying the last month only to loss 1/2 lb off my overweight boy. Our vet saw him last weekend and ordered 2 lb less by the end of June at his annual checking-up. Tall order for a lab.
If asked, tell them that your dog is 25 pounds. What are they, the weight police?
They probably set the weight limit to 30 pounds so that really large dogs like Doberman's and pit bulls that are in the 60 - 100 pound range will not be allowed.
I am glad that our dog is not a dog at all, but is a service animal for our child. He can not be prohibited from going into hotels, resteraunts, football games, ect. He was even at the hospital on tuesday for her most recent opperation.

Personally I would more rather have a 100 pound well behaved dog than a 30 pound yappy mutt that some one refuses to train. Places that have a weight restriction like that I refuse to do business with. Our last dog was a career changed seeing eye dog and was better behaved than 99% of the mutts in the camp grounds even after we spoiled him. If it was my decision I would call and cancel the reservation and cite the reasons and then get a reservation someplace where there is no such thing.

They just want yappy, ankle biting, yippy, bird brained worthless little dogs. So by setting a weight limit, they exclude the larger, obedient, intelligent larger dogs. You will be just fine, I am quite sure, with a 33 lb. dog, especially if he is quiet, well mannered, stays on the leash, and you pick up after him.
I'd be more concerned that your Corgi weighs 30lbs. A lot of weight for a small breed......
I suspect that campground figures any dog over 30lbs must be a big bad breed like a German Shepherd or a Rottie or even a Dobbie..And they don't want any undesirables in their campground............
They aren't going to weigh your dog. I suspect if you had a 29 lb Great Dane they would throw you out.....
For give them for they know not what they say......

I thank you all for your comments. I looked up the website of the campground and inquired about their rule. I can't very well change campgrounds as we're going with a camping club and the reservations have been made. Tru's a very well behaved Welsh Corgi and we always clean up after him. I just wanted to touch base with the cg since we're going with a club and don't want to stir up trouble. I agree with y'all, it's usually the little dogs that cause trouble with the barking and so many times the owners think the leash rule doesn't apply to small dogs. We were camping last week at a state park and there were two little dogs running loose.

We have a black lab, while searching for campgounds in our travels we have run into several campgrounds that have the "no dogs over 30 lbs" rule stated on their website. Some campgrounds list the breeds that are not allowed and we been asked when making reservations what breed of dog we have at other campgrounds even though they do not list any restrictions in their advertising. We have seen dogs of all sizes and breeds that misbehave at campgrounds, it is the owners who are at fault not the dog, just like kids, some are trained and some are not!
