I had an 07 HD2500 A 6spd OD Vortex would not pull the 06 Raptor had to buy a bigger TV went to a Dodge 3500 4WD Dually with 6.7 CD made a huge diff. The Chev was a beauty but not much good for towing. GM said it would tow up to 12750 BS 9500 max. 454 will probably pull it but your fuel consumpsion is gonna be murder. On a streight away I got 4 MPG if I was doing 70 when I hit a hill by the time I was at the top I was in 2nd and struggling. Raptor TH is a heavy well built unit

We had an 05 2500 hd silverado had no issues pulling my raptor at all, The only reason i went to the 3500 gmc dually is the hub bub about getting stopped for pulling triple axel with what would appear a vehicle that cant handle that load and we are over weight with that vehicle i way over pack, The 3500 handles the load just fine and we are within specs
Most raptors are being towed with 2500's thats a personal choice not everyone can go buy a 450 or HDT its not even nessessary either of the trucks can handle the load.
Our mpg are not that bad tugging all that weight 9 mpg and we pull cajon and grapevine every single trip (we live in the inland empire and need to do those grades to get out to any riding area)

Hockymom65, I see your comment and yes yours will pull easy with the Duramax I had the 6.0 Vortex which is a gasser not diesel and so is his 454, diesels make a huge diff. in towing ease.

The 454 will pull it, just not well. My dad had a 1989 Elite motorhome... 36', with an old TBI 454 front-engine and 3-speed TH400 tranny. The whole coach weighed about 18,000 lbs. It actually moved along fine on flat ground, but it did get kinda slow in the hills. So yeah, the 454 will tow a Raptor, but I think it'd rather be doing something else.

yea, with a partial load, truck -current trailer(wildwood 32srv le) i weigh 18,260# on flat ground it tows very well. up hill lil slow, went east TN. and N.C with it and slow goin up the steepest of grades, it would wanta shift down and acellerate. really never felt like it was over workin. thats bone stock too. i think it`ll tow it (3712ts) but i wo`nt have that lil extra i like.

54ktmracer1: Let me put it to you this way, I would not let your current TV stop you from buying the Raptor, you can always upgrade the TV at a later date. You'll love the Raptor, once I got the bugs worked out of mine I've really enjoyed it.

And to go waaaay out on a limb... if you got really ambitious, there are some sites out there that focus on doing Cummins conversions into vehicles like your truck, Ford trucks, Suburbans, Jeeps, etc, etc.
