If Barney has any psychological problems, which I'm sure ALL cats do, he's had them since birth - he's an idiot! - like all cats - that's why I love them! Old or young, declawing doesn't harm them psychologically. One cat we had when our twin babies were born was over 7 yrs. old when we had it done - right after 1 of the twins crawled over and starte knawing on Gypsy's tail. That's when it occurred to me that she could have put an eye out of our baby, so that's when she was declawed. But this post is NOT about declawing - it's about taking Barney on the road with us. Everyone has their opinion and like sirdrakejr said, please do not presume to tell ayone else what to do in order to enjoy their pet more. Different strokes - different folks.

My cat is declawed. When you post a question on a public forum, you have no leverage on which comments you will accept and which ones you will not.

Curious about the dog you gave away a few months ago. Any update on him?

Lesson learned: Place an impervious mat under the litter box in the shower. You really don't want cat litter gunking up the gray tank, especially that clumping stuff.

Good luck with transitioning Barney to life on the road.

If I go full time I'll take my cat, but he has huge wanderlust and I'm afraid he'll get lost somewhere. So I'll have to make some sort of enclosure for him to get his fresh air. He can also be obnoxious when he wants to go out. For now he stays home with my brother.

As for "clunking stuff" look for the stuff made of paper. I find mine at PetSmart, it is called "PaPurr". It comes in "clumpy" and not. It is paper and fully breaks down in water. It can be dumped in toilets and it wont hurt. Look it up. I have been using it for a few years now and it is a lot like the consistency of "Johnny Cat" clay. The cat seems to like it now too. It also has a deodorizer. Sorry about going a little off topic.

I think the recommended litter when they are declawed is called
Yesterdays News.
