Hi all.
I'm in the market for a new cooler and was hoping y'all could give me some input. I'm currently looking at a Coleman extreme 62qtthat claims to keep ice for 5 days in 90 degree(F) weather. Does anyone have one of these? Is the 5 day claim bunk? Thanks for any input!

Yeah, that's a good one (as is Igloo's Max Cold & Marine, Rubbermaid's DuraChill, etc.). The 5 day claim is kind of bunk. They might do it with a large block of ice (really large), but no way with cubed. Still, they're the best performers out there.

I've got an Coleman Extreme and it really will hold ice for 5 days if you limit the opening and closing to a minimum.
If you're camping with kids (or adults who don't always pay attention), make sure that it gets closed ALL THE WAY because it sort of gets stuck in a halfway closed position if you're not careful. Then your ice will surely melt.
But if you keep it closed properly then it really is a great cooler. I love ours.

Five days is pushing it. But, much better than the older coolers. Still depends on the temp and if you can keep the cooler in the cooler in the shade.

Five days is a breeze with my Coleman Igloo. Did I mention that we use dry ice for my wife's frozen marinated gourmet meats? :-)

I have this cooler, I get 2, maybe 3 days with 20 lbs of ice and mostly drinks. That's with 2 kids opening and closing quite a bit, mostly shade, but it is generally with 80 degree days in Florida.
5 days? Maybe indoors, no sun and always closed.
That being said, I do like this cooler and would recomend it.

The Xtreme coolers are excellent. As long as you pre-chill your food & drinks, and limit the number of times you open the coolers, they WILL last 5 days in the FL heat.
These pics were taken at the 4 day mark. Look like they'll go another day?

The Achilles’ heel, so to speak, is rain. If these are left in the rain, the water will fill up the cooler, and melt all the ice. Just the way the seal was designed.

I've had one 5 years. Works great. Keep it in shade when possible. I put plastic grocery bags over items in mine. Helps keep cold in. By putting several layers it will fill space making less area to cool.

Who stole the Beer & Tequila?
We're camping for 3 weeks in Florida in June. Pretty PO'd about having to pay an extra $25 each way for a 2nd checked bag!
