It's about time!!
They had on the news this morning.
Driving with a dog or cat or any pet on your lap is a $25.00 fine.
Wonder how long that will take tp spread across the country?

It's cute, but poor behavior to allow Muffy co-piloting in your lap while driving. $75.00 or Up sounds like a better number to me for the fine.

Good, it's about time. Pets never belonged in the driver's seat to begin with. Neither do cell phones.

Eating, in some areas, is all ready illegal per a news story I just read, and a hand held cell phone (Speaker phones or headsets are allowed though, except for stereo head sets in some areas)
and paying attention to a passenger instead of the road
And several other things that should, in fact, be outlawed.
Most of these acts are classed "Driving with head up exhaust pipe" (yours, not the vehicles) (If you want a way to say it that hopefully won't get slapped down)
I have a cat (or two) who do have the run of the "House" but they are learning to avoid the driver's seat,, They get shooed off fairly quickly.
And if they don't get the message.. They have a 4' by 5' cage
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

A pet is a living, breathing, got a mind of its own thing. If fido is happily sitting on your lap, or wherever and decides to make a quick move, you will react. That reaction could cause a problem.
I love my animals, and would/have/will do/done most anything for them, but they are still pets and need to be treated as such. So unless a pet can get a drivers license, they do not belong in the drivers seat. Heck, I don't even allow mine in the front seat, period.
While numerous other activities are distracting, at least you can control the situation.

No, it's to protect ourselves from the others!
I am a dog person but don't people get it that dogs are not the children? You can leave them at home and not bring them into grocery or department stores or let them ride on your lap. Hello!?!!!!!
If you really consider them as "precious" as your children, then strap them in like "kids" should be!

It is in some places........many have laws requiring dogs be secured either in a crate or to be tied so they can't jump/fall out.
Heck, I know some humans I'd like banned from the drivers seat. LOL
