I have a small solar panel on my A/C for keeping the battery from completely discharging. I know it will not fully charge the battery, but will do some charging. Will the solar panel charge the battery with the battery switch off or does the switch have to be on?

It will depend on how it is wired!

I would suspect that as long as the Battery is not physically removed or disconnected at the ground it will continue to chage! Your remote Battery disconnect is likely not in series with the solar panel! You can easily measure the output from the PVP at several points in the wiring, keep in mind that what You have is quite small so although it may generate 12+ Volts it is at a Very Tiny Amperage!

Probably best to check w/ the coach manufacturer. Some choose to wire the charger directly to the batteries, in which case you will likely see a red + & a neg - set of thin 16 ga. wires attached to the respective battery terminals. I have also seen the charge wires connected to the convertor, in which case when the coach disconnect switch is switched off, the batteries receive no charge at all. That, in my estimation, is the incorrect way to connect the system. Should you have the small wires connected directly to the batteries, you might consider testing the output with a voltmeter. Lot's of them aren't very reliable.

See ya out there!!
