Can anybody tell me the distance from Nogales to Mazatlan as we are thinking of going up there this winter and are getting all the ducks in a fairly straight row. Thanks sonny

Does www.yahoo.com/maps or www.google.com/maps work?

A good 3 day drive and if you don't have reservations now, you probably won't have a place to stay.

You can do it in two days but its a hard two day drive and there's places to stay despite what some will tell you. We've never made a reservation in Mexico in close to 15 years of travel there and have never stayed in the street as a result of that habit.

I'm not quite sure why some like to mislead others, especially newbies, but those of us that were in Mazatlan last year, will testify to the fact that during Jan and Feb, there were RVers parked on the street, as there were NO available RV sites. The town lost close to 600 RV sites last year and the place is hurting for space. I was raised and educated in Mexico, so I believe that the truth needs to be told, not glossed over. Do not plan on spending the winter in Mazatlan, unless you have reservations.

Actually it all depends!
As Bob says, we never reserve in Mexico, unless we want to stay at a specific site and we haven't had any problems.
If you want to stay in Mazatlan over the winter, you should reserve. If you are passing through I suggest Celestino as a good stop avoiding Mazatlan. If you are passing through Mazatlan early in the winter or later after all the snowbirds have left, then you shouldn't have a problem.
In terms of driving, it depends on your preferences in term of hard charging or taking it easy. We take about 5 days to make that trek, but we are on Mexican time!

Go to Traza Tu Ruta (Trace Your Route). Click on the Traza Tu Ruta on the lower right side. Enter your origin and destination and vehicle type. It will give you total kms, route, cost, time and toll booth costs.
Via Hwy 15, the distance is 1,191 kms.

Thank you Al for an honest response to the OP, which specified Mazatlan. I agree that in the rest of Mexico, other than the Acapulco and PV area, no reservations are needed.

I'm trying to post from memory, so I may be off a little, but I think it is about 750 miles from Nogales to Mazatlan. Check with Las Jaibas RV for reservations. They are supposed to add 75 spots over the summer, and they most likely will have a space for you. Some parks are already booked, and others are only taking long-term (multiple months) reservations.
Celestino or Villa Celeste or the new park are great stops, but they are a long drive to Mazatlan if you want to go frequently. The best way to see Mazatlan is when you are in Mazatlan.

There are no spaces available for Jan. or Feb. in Maz. Period. If you want to stay on a parking lot or the street then there is room. BTW: There are lots of places on the West Coast with no spaces available.
