Above is a just portion of the article. This is the Act which contains Section 3 Art(3) the infamous "NO OVERNIGHT PARKING LAW" There seems to be some opposition to repealing some parts of it especially about the cottages. It has been a long wait but what else to expect from a legislation that has sat for only 14 days for this session. I guess they are frightened they'll be defeated and with good reason.
This will be a budget matter so if the government falls, so does the legislation, so it's still wait and see, but at least it's a start to keeping their word.
If it wasn't for my wife I'd have missed the article, it was in yesterday's news.
While visiting the new Crappy tire store I came upon some old (still posted) No Overnighting signs with reference to the tourism act. "Atlantic Shopping Centers" guess I have some more work to do to get rid of them also.

Yes, I hope this is the good news we've been waiting for.
Glad DW caught it.
I read it as Tourist Accommodations Act, rather than all of tourism.
& I, I took the road less travelled by.

Please keep us posted as many RVers have opted to not visit Nova Scotia because of the *** move by some very narrow minded people. Thank you and your wife for keeping an eye on this for all of us.
Have a good summer...we are going fishing in Northern Ontario this year visiting about 12 Provincial and National Parks.

That's nonsense - what is keeping people away is high fuel prices and rising higher every day.

Afraid not! Anml_341 is quite correct. There has been an effective boycott of the Province as early as the late 90's increasing in intensity until last year. However most of those who did visit used the campgrounds, so law or no law it made little difference to them.
The price of fuel has only become an issue this year, whereas the boycott has been active for years. Statistics show each year there was a steady decline of RV traffic to the Province amounting to a loss of about 20% each successive year when compared to it's preceding year.
Do a search on this forum, or others also, and read all about it.

The most useful thing would be to write the Minister of Tourism in Nova Scotia, saying, "if you want me to visit your province, please pass this new act on Tourism Accommodations. We need to be able to stop safely when driving conditions dictate. We need to be free to choose where to stop."

They can put all the rules into effect that they want, but it will never stop me from visiting.

What you're forgetting is that the two issues are closely linked. It's precisely because of the high fuel prices that many RVers wish to offset some of their fuel costs by boondocking at Wally World, etc. for a few nights. If they can't do it in NS, they'll go to a state/province where they can.

The Budget has been passed by the NS legislation last Thursday. No doubt second reading of the Bill to rescind The present Tourist Accommodation Act will no doubt follow soon. A third reading of the Bill will be required to finalize it. There is enough support in the Legislature to ensure it's passage.
