We just got back from a nice camping weekend and the no saying "Dad or Mom" rule worked so well for a nice relaxing set up. Thanks again for the tip!

The burning of the Marshmellows.......Every year on Memorial Day, I buy an EXTRA bag of marshmellows to keep in my HOT trunk all summer long!

Then on Labor Day, (usually our last trip before settling into the school routine) we take out the GLOB of marshmellows and empty the whole bag into the campfire.

As the glob bubbles and melts and makes some interesting shapes, we talk about the highlights of the trips we took over the summer.....

It's kind of a happy/sad time.....We are happy discussing all the fun we had, but sad, that with "The burning of the marshmellows", it's time to put the camping down for the rest of the year.

We tried the banana boats this past weekend - yum! It was a hit with my family and the family sharing our campfire. We also did the "you can't say Dad" during the first 30 minutes of arriving at our campsite. My dh did notice a difference! Thank you everyone!

Target shooting for the entire family! We usually spend an entire half day shooting at our make shift range. It's fun, safe and brings the family together.

The second thing we all do is go on trail rides with the "toys."

We love to sit around the campfire and talk, walk our two dogs, play crackers if it rain, swim in the lake, go fishing and eat too much. I don't think there is any better way to spend time with your family and friends. Enjoy

We have my chili one night.

Marshmallow golf (Marshmallows instead of a golf ball. Circle of string instead of a hole).

Blazzing Saddles.

If someone new at the camp, I have a board with 2 pieces of reflective tape to look like eyes when the flashlight is shined on it. I set it in the trees about 50 yards from camp. Scared the heck out of my 21 year old daughter.

Gotta have biscuits and gravy.

Our first night is always sandwich night....this tradition was started because mom is tired too ya know!
Saturday nights are always steaks and the biggest baked potatos I can find (inside family joke) followed up by smores.
We crank up the bubble machine at least one day and everyone becomes 5 again.
Frisbee war is popular....we get about 5 going at once if we can find a large enough area.
One of our favorite things is to load up into the truck one day, drive out of the park and pick a road. We drive and explore little towns we never knew where there. We always find something interesting and the kids love the adventure.
And always cinnamon rolls on the last morning before we pack up to leave.

Happy Camping!

I have purchased a big clear vase, It sits nicely beside our fire place at home. Every time we go to a different CG we go for a hike or nice long walk through the CG or along the beach, in the woods. DD's look for that special pine cone, pretty stone, sand, a small different shaped stick and ext. When we arrive home we add it to our vase. It has turned into our family tradition. It looks beautiful and filled with our special times.

The outdoors is a wonderful place to be....
