I thank everyone for their response. The point that I am trying to make is that "companies /corporations" make these decisions with the wrong information in mind. Take these HMO's and other medical insurance companies. To paraphrase " its theirs, therefore, their rules." But yet they are there to provide a service to the public.
The idea of a campground, I always thought, was for a family to have fun. At 55 years old, I don't remember as a child, rules by the company. I remember rules by my parents.
It should be noted, that I was not notified by the campground. I found out only because I called to confirm the site number and arrival time.
I have heard about home insurance companies and their restrictions, but I have also been reading and watching the news about "another home invasion".
I have no problem with a park that would like to be "pet free". But then don't say "pet friendly" in the next breath.
It just seems to me that these (insurance or otherwise)companies are going about it the wrong way.
Again, I thank every one for their response, and I do respect your opinion, whether I agree with it or not.
The only one I will directly respond to is John who suggested "lose the dog". Well John, about the politest thing I can say to you is I hope your statement did not sound the way you meant it to sound.
All I have to say is that the lady that walks her dog on a leash in our neighbor said that her dog was friendly. So I guess it was a friendly bite that he gave my wive. Now I know that everyone here in this forum would never let that happen and that no one here ever leaves a barking dog in their RV and go off for the day, but unfortunately folks not in this forum do let it happen and when a dog bites a kid at a CG and the CG gets sued how many of us are going to volunteer to help pay the expenses for the CG.
I probably would not have posted this except for the nice friendly dog kept on a leash biting my DW this week, but all it takes is one bad experience.

I kind of appreciate it when a campground comes right out and says "no dogs". Folks who like that can go there. I'll go elsewhere. Everybody is happy. Works for me. Its the "pet friendly" places that really aren't but try to have it both ways, that annoy me.
Thanks for the headsup, New England is on our list for summer/fall but I will avoid this.
Any CG that doesn't want large dogs should clearly state that fact.
Small breed dogs only.
No large breed dogs.
or No PETS ALLOWED
I personally prefer Pet Friendly CG's. When we were in Florida we were at a park that had large and small dogs, I don't think think there were more than two or three that didn't have a dog(s). There were no barking dogs or aggressive dogs, mostly dogs that got along quite well.

HUM...I wonder what you did with your daughter when she was little....did you dump her off on someone else too....These animals are family to a lot of us....you may not understand that...but how would you feel if you could not take your daughter on a trip with you. If someone told you she could not go with you would not be very happy either. You do have the right to not take your dogs with you...what I don't like is when people tell me I can not take my dogs with me. They have done nothing wrong. Am I not entitled to my right also? Their are plenty of kids that have killed others...The bite don't look that bad when compared to a coffin. If we can ban all dogs because of some bad ones why not ban all kids...Oh gee I guess that would not make much sense. Try to look at things from others point of view instead of your own. Enforce common sense rules and punish the guilty not the group.
I started this thread to notify people of a corporation (campground(s)) that have a policy against "large dogs". I felt (and still do) that it is wrong to stereotype (People as well as)animals.
I wanted to let responsible dog owners know what is happening in the camping world. As this corporation indicated to me that they are buying across the country, RVers travel across country, I felt it important to be well advised.
Obviously, there are RVers who disagree about pets. I would like to think that there is an alternative to "not allowing pets at all". Such as a portion of a campground could be dedicated to pets and the rest not.
I own four German Shepherds. They are trained. When I seek a reservation, I email the campground a photo of my set up. I request a site away from others as much as possible. With the exception of Morgan owned grounds, I have had no problems.
To state my personal grievance again: German Shepherds are listed as "aggressive". This is a breed that was originally created by a German Officer, Max Von Stepehanitz(sp) strictly for herding. This breed has served as guide dog to the blind, it served in the Oklahoma bombing and 911 bombing as search and rescue dogs (as well as other dogs). This breed serves as therapy dogs. I say this not because I own them, I own them because of this history.
Sure they are used by some Police forces. Not because of their aggression (in fact aggressive dogs do not pass the program) but because of their intelligence,loyalty and capability to be trained.
I am sure other dog owners have their sound reasons for their choice of breed.
However, no matter what breed, there is a bond, a loving relationship between pet owners and their animals. For those of you who have not had that experience, I am sorry. On two distinct occasions my dogs have saved my life when notifying me , as I slept, of a fire in my basement. Secondly of a gas leak, again while I slept!!!
Over time, my dogs have been credited with finds of children, and adults who have wondered off medical facilities.
