I am I the only one with this problem? I can buy two pairs of Levi's jeans (both say the same size on the tag) from the same store and they both fit differently. The waist size can vary as much as 1 inch while the length varies as much as 1/2inch to 1 inch. What is going on here? I have had the same thing with winter coats, jackets, pull overs etc. Is anyone else seeing the same thing? Can't they measure anymore?

On the bright size you can go try on clothes at one store and be a size 14...go to try on clothes at another and suddenly you're a size 7.

I have an aunt that owns a company that makes clothing. She says when they cut the pattern, they don't do it one at a time. They "pile up" several layers of material and cut them all at one time. As the "cutter" comes down, some of the fabric is squished (for lack of a better word) and does not come out exactly the same as the others. In fact, each layer is probably a very tiny bit different than the next layer. The top layer and the bottom layer will have the biggest difference.

I worked for a 'certain denim company' many years ago. Waistbands were allowed up to 1 1/4 inch difference either way without being sent back for repair. Needless to say, I DON'T wear that brand anymore!! And, I try on EVERY pr of jeans/slacks before buying.

Welcome to the Global Market....
You will also find that if you have a pair of size 8 (or whatever) from say two or three years ago, and you go and try on the same jeans now, same size, same style, even just basic St. Jamesbay from JC Penny, they will not fit, I did this recently and they felt about two sizes too small.

I try on every pair too. Used to just grab the size i knew would fit but that don't work anymore. Now you gotta go to the dreaded dressing room and waste 30 minutes making sure somebody else did their job.

There are two answers: First if you are buying genuine Levi products

Levi Strauss and company has a lot of different styles Some are "Relaxed fit" some are "Trim Fit"

Now: That said, if you are buying "Jeans" (not Levi's which is a specific brand) different companies may size them a bit different.. Some are "pre-shrunk" some are not so they size them for anticipated shrinkage

Page 2: Some of what is sold in the stores as brand name quality garmets is ... None of the above (Cheaply made counterfit knockoffs with no quality control)

Takes a bettery eye than mine to tell 'em apart in many cases
