Actually, it's an excellent topic although I'm having trouble understanding how two grandkids doubles the CO2 for the plane but not the RV . I have had very limited exposure to such formulas and I question them. Nevertheless, we should all think about the environment but to what extent do we change our lives? This topic is huge among our friends and causes me to wonder about RVing. What about the tree huggers who fly to the Galapagos to see the wonders discovered by Darwin? We need to preserve nature but we also need to be able to travel to see its beauty.

IMHO: The Earth's climate is getting warmer as it has undoubtedly done hundreds of thousands of times in it's millions of years of history. We just happen to be around to watch it this time. Everything else is hype....

Vegetation needs the CO2. Please travel. Take a few extra ventures into parts unknown. Crank up a charcoal grill, even if you aren't going to use it. Carbon footprint my asterisk!

Al Gore is a huge hypocrite and an elitist that thinks if he can 'purchase' carbon offsets, it is OK for him. If you happen to be some poor UNDESERVING slob that has to wander around this Country in a truck camper - you would be better off sitting at home with the lights off - or polishing his boots with your lips! Communist Socialist hypocritical a$$hole!

Now, let me have a few more minutes to tell you how I really feel about his kind!

Come on Al, I went back and read several of your old posts and there was nothing there to give a hint of your concern for your "carbon footprint". I think you are just like the guy who throws a small piece of meat between several starving dogs just to say you were concerned that they needed something to eat. They're right you had better get your flame suit on. LOL Gary

Gee, between diesel prices and carbon footprint, we will all stop RVing or at least have huge guilt pangs.

I almost locked this Thread due to political comments, until I realized Al Gore is no longer in politics. Even as a Moderator, I am not sure if he is fair game. Please use a little restraint.

sch911 - I agree with you, as do more scientist, everyday.

Just to throw another log on the fire...

Has anyone noticed the recent ads promoting the "endangered" polar bear.

I have also heard that the polar bear population was on the increase over the last few years by a good margin. (?)

The wildlife federation who is looking for the donation should have better sense than promote a program based on hype pushed forward by Gore. If in fact it turns out that the bears are no where near being endangered it reflects badly on them... It makes people wonder if their money is actually being put to use in a good way. Then again, animal lovers may not care one way or the other if the bears are endangered or if they are inhabiting the entire Northern hemisphere.

Media has gotten so bad these days that it is starting to put Hitler's propaganda machine to shame.

Media moguls would sell their soul before promoting the news in a un-spun, accurate representation of FACT.

The topic is right-on and yeah, its going to come to push and shove. There are now enough people, with access to enough technology to essentially kill the planet just by using it.

Question is, who is going to tell who what has to stop? And, when?

The fossil fuel binge has been great but its starting to end (in 10, 20, 50 or 100 years -- who knows?).

When filling up your truck means knocking someone off the planet, one should consider the karma. For me, I figure as long as I can afford it ($10 fuel by year-end could be a problem) and no one is getting pushed off, I'm going. Do it while you can.
