They didn't and won't....You think they would care about a forum as busy as this one is but this has to be the absolutly most unstable site I have been on.

Hey Mods, Does the bossman know about the forum issue? I think if they knew how many people they were alienating it would be fixed in a day or so. Almost any problem (hardware/software) can be fixed in less than a few days if it is important to you.

Do you really believe Admin would have made the post that you quoted if something serious wasn't being done?
All of the servers and load-levelers have been replace with new equipment. Alas, that wasn't the solution to our problems.
For a long time, I have felt that the problem can be found in the custom-written software or the commercial server software. Considerable attention has been given to both. I fear that a total rewrite, using a different framework, will be required.
We share the frustrations of our members; it is very difficult to moderate and maintain a life, when the connection to forum is not dependable. For the most part, we have allowed members to complain, but some of the bashing is just not fair to the techs.

If you right click on the page and then click source, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see this "Accelerated by VIGOS IIS Accelerator 2.2.1 - http://www.vigos.com"
Remove that program and you will see a large increase in speed as that program is stuffed full of keystroke loggers and trackers.
Thanks for your reply and I sympathize with you however, in this day and time if a tech cannot figure it out then maybe you should try elsewhere. My goal is not to bash you or the techs, it is to hopefully to remind the powers that be that in its present condition the forums are consistently inconsistent. It is to the point that you do not want to post a reply because you know there is a 70% chance the reply will get lost.
There are numerous commercially available forum software programs that have just as many, if not more features than your current forum software. I'll lay low and quit complaining to give you a chance to fix the problem.

Have you any idea how much information is stored here, dating back to 2000? Several thousand posts a day to be converted to another software????????????????????????????????/

Hi Little Kopit,
Well since you ask I do know how much data is here. I myself, have a similar amount of data on numerous websites (since 1998) that are run using MySQL, perl, php and others. Converting this to another software database structure is not as difficult as you make it sound although it will take considerable effort and probably custom written software to make it happen.
Do you have any experience in database structure and programming? Do you think the current software is stable enough for a commercial enterprise? Do you think it wise to fix the problems that all users are experiencing whether that fix is a patch or a new platform?
If you have ideas please post them. I would like to see RV.net get past these issues and go full steam ahead as the continued leader in the RV community.

Sorry, I don't have data base experience or anything remotely like relevant computer experience.
My experience is more in making use of the information that is here via advanced search.
Being an easterner, who started out with dial up and expect to be back on dial up in a new location very shortly, I know get up early, don't stay up late. I find it easy to pick up on, figure out when you have less wait time. I think others miss this lesson. & to have the other portals handy. In other words, I see that I can adapt.
I don't forget that this place is paid for by sponsors money and ads.
I have a sneaking suspicion some of this could be connectivity conflict with the software here. You can tell me if I'm out to lunch. Where do I get this idea? From my experience with Photobucket hosted photos. I can see some peoples photos hosted by Photobucket and not others.
One of those posts from a home computer and also from a broad band business computer. There is an Aussie site with 3 or 4 members who host via Photobucket and I can see their posted photos. Not to give you all of the stuff I have tried on this one, but connectivity is the most noticable varable which I can't check. At the moment I'm on via Cable TV company cable modem for both Inernet and TV connection. We will see whether I do as well when I get to the new dial up location.

Wow, I am almost speechless.....almost. How would you feel:
1. If you picked up the phone and got a message "Sorry you will have to wait until there are less users".
2. How about flipping the light switch and hear a recording "Lights not available at this time".
3. Tuning to your favorite TV show only to be told "Error show cannot be displayed"
4. Turning the key in your ignition and hear "sorry roads are full"
You get the idea, we are all adaptable but for you to say what you said just doesn't float. You know full well that you are having major problems because you have changed your schedule dramatically and have a list of alternative portals just so you can participate here. Don't settle for less than you deserve.
