ok joined hope the scouts like this!

The eTrex works great, Barb. We have been geocaching for a couple years now with our eTrex Vista. I download a bunch of caches before we go on a vacation somewhere. It is fun because it takes you to areas that you might not have explored. We did a bunch in Coeur d'Alene last year and the year before when we were in Seaside and Florence, OR. We have also found a dozen or so in Santa Cruz.

GSAK is a great tool to download and manage your waypoints (coordinates for caches). It offers a free download to try it. GSAK

Have fun and happy caching!

ps -watch out for muggles.

^ditto!

Just got back from a weekend ride on the Hole in the Rock trail in Souther Utah where we picked up 5 caches to boot. The guys I ride with love it when we go off searching for a cache; gives us a reason for exploring new areas.

More fun in caching is finding a "Travel Bug" in a cache. You then log on to the geocaching website, log in the # on the "Bug" and it will show you all the places that bug has been. Then you log in where you found it, then send it back on its way again. We found one here that actually got its start in Kabul, Afghanistan! Took it over 2 years to make it to NH ... some other stops were interesting US military bases overseas.

Or, you can order your own bugs to start them of and keep track of where they are!

I've been Caching for about four years now, I would Cache everywhere I went but not so much anymore. We still like to Cache when we ride, even in BAJA. Geocaching is like having a tour guide to someone's favorite spot. We've found places we have rode right past many times and never knew it was there until an unknown Geocacher showed us the way. PS. Cache Pirates suk! Leave more than you take.

I picked up a travel bug at Tahoe that was trying to get to Minnesota. I was in Chicago the next month, so I brought it along. I put it in a cache in Licoln Park on Lake Michigan. TBs are very cool!
