Looking for other great camping places in lower Michigan, we have been to the the Ludington/sleeping bear dune area several times and love it. However we would to try something new. We have 2 wks vacation coming up starting June 14th and have 2 teenagers so they like to bike and swim. Just looking for any ideas or great places to relax.

Look at Rifle River Recreation Area near Rose City. Was our favorite while we lived in Michigan. Have been back several times in the 28 years we have been in Missouri.

We've stayed at Warren Dunes a couple times & kids always like it. More water than biking, but fun.

Your teens would love Silver Lake State Park. Tons of stuff to do and the dunes are fun. Great for walking on. Here's some pics.

Higgins Lake State Park was always one of our favorites. Nice campground (electricity only), fishing boats, ski boats and canoes for rent, clear water with a sandy bottom, right in the middle of the forest. It's a short drive to Grayling, Gaylord, and several other nice towns for shopping and dinner.

Grand Haven, Holland, Hoffmaster, Silver Lake State Parks will meet all of your requests plus, and much more for the adults too or just relax. June 14th is still normally a little cool up north closer the Straits. Especially for swimming! South of Traverse City area would be a better choice for mid June. July on is wonderful farther north. You are in the West Michigan/Kalamazoo general area so if fuel cost is any consideration, the West Coast of the state offers so many choices of excellent camping and fun etc. Great places along the lakeshore. Bear in mind that the 5.5 million Detroit area population plus the Flint and Saginaw etc population are also seeking campgrounds in the Central and East side of the State after school's out. Gets a bit crowded and very noisy has been our observation the many times we've been there so we avoid it. Research your perspective choices on the Internet.

You might check out Trailway Campground in Montague, MI which is at the end of the Hart-Montague Bike Trail where you can turn the kids loose for more than 20 miles.
