If I interpret it right, we would've paid an additonal $1500 in the price to be able to get that $1500 rebate, if our dealer had participated.
But it wouldn't have affected our decision to buy, one way or the other. We wanted the Navion, so we bought it. Simple as that.

I got the skinny on it, pardon the pun. For the dealer to "participate," the dealer has to order another unit from Winnebago to replace the unit you just bought. So it's no big deal to the dealer if you buy one from their stock, as they'd likely replace it anyway. They might balk if you are special ordering, cause then the dealer will wind up with an extra unit in inventory.

Okay - that explains some vague wording in the dealer's e-mail.
Our dealer has got a lot of unsold inventory and slow sales. I'm guessing they don't want to replace the unit we bought - not at this point.
I think this dealer might be in trouble.
I certainly wouldn't want to be selling RV's in the current market....

People...You GET the rebate from Winnebago or you can have it applied to your purchase price....has NOTHING to do with the dealer.
If your dealer is telling you that he has to order another unit from Winnebago in order to give you a rebate on the current unit, that is not true, and you should go to another dealer.

Bronco, you are mostly right. The rebate comes from Winnebago, and you can choose to have it applied to purchase price or returned to you. However, it comes only by purchasing from "participating" dealers. For the dealer to "participate," the dealer has to replace your unit with a new order. Otherwise, Winnebago doesn't send you a check.

We bought our 08 view in November, and so missed out on the rebate. We are however, getting 15- 16.5 mi./gal. (diesel @ 55mph) We bought a View because at $10/gal, we'll still hit the road. Loving our new rig.
Sorry you missed the rebate. We didn't know about it when we bought.
Therefore, it didn't enter our decision-making. We're loving our little rig, too. We went out for a week long trip a week after we picked it up.
By the way, Winnebago has sneak peaks up of the 2009 model lineup with floorplans, decor, exterior choices, technical specs, etc.
