Hummm...probably built on a Ford Chasis and they giving THEIR customers $5,000 in cash incentives right now. Looks like a $3500.00 profit increase for Winnebago.

Notice in the fine print it mentions "participating dealers". That's a key term. One's dealer has to be participating in that specific program. Our dealer wasn't, apparently.
So much for being in the right place at the right time......

"Participating dealers" actually means the DEALER is paying - and YOU will be paying him in your sales price.
A "Factory Rebate" is usually from the manufacturer ONLY, and your price paid to the dealer won't be affected.
Given the current market conditions, $1500. is a pittance - even on a vehicle that's considered to be desirable.

Actually, it is coming from Winnebago. Here's the "fine print:"
"Sea to Shining Sea" Rebate Rules and Regulations:
The "Sea to Shining Sea" rebate applies only to new, not previously retailed, Itasca Navion® motor homes purchased from a participating Itasca® dealer from April 7 through June 30, 2008. This offer is not valid on Navion iQ or on units purchased prior to April 7, 2008 or after June 30, 2008. Consumer may elect to use their "Sea to Shining Sea" rebate towards their down payment by indicating with a checkmark in the 'Please apply my "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate to my down payment' box on this form. If this option is selected, a rebate check will be sent to the selling dealer. Or, the consumer may choose to have the "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate sent to them in the form of a rebate check from Winnebago Industries by selecting the 'Please send my "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate to me' box on this form. In either case, payment will be processed upon receipt of all required documentation. Required documentation includes a fully completed "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate Authorization Form, a copy of the signed and dated Purchase Agreement, and a completed Warranty Registration Card. Retail customer signature is required on all forms. A fully completed "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate Authorization Form with a copy of the signed and dated Purchase Agreement must be sent to Winnebago Industries, Attention: Sales Department and postmarked by July 30, 2008.

Yep.
Here's a partial quote from our dealer: "....the "Sea 2 Shining Sea" program is an optional dealer participation program".
If I interpret it right, we would've paid an additonal $1500 in the price to be able to get that $1500 rebate, if our dealer had participated.
But it wouldn't have affected our decision to buy, one way or the other. We wanted the Navion, so we bought it. Simple as that.

That's how I look at it, Dave. If I can get the $1500 now, it's just gravy. My dealer is going to try to help us get it.
