Bronco, let me clarify for you. I am getting the rebate. Therefore, my dealer has no incentive to lie to me about the process. They have to order another into inventory, however, to "participate" in the program. If you look back through the thread, I posted the "fine print" from the Winnebago website. I'll put it here for you, again:
"Sea to Shining Sea" Rebate Rules and Regulations:
The "Sea to Shining Sea" rebate applies only to new, not previously retailed, Itasca Navion® motor homes purchased from a participating Itasca® dealer from April 7 through June 30, 2008. This offer is not valid on Navion iQ or on units purchased prior to April 7, 2008 or after June 30, 2008. Consumer may elect to use their "Sea to Shining Sea" rebate towards their down payment by indicating with a checkmark in the 'Please apply my "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate to my down payment' box on this form. If this option is selected, a rebate check will be sent to the selling dealer. Or, the consumer may choose to have the "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate sent to them in the form of a rebate check from Winnebago Industries by selecting the 'Please send my "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate to me' box on this form. In either case, payment will be processed upon receipt of all required documentation. Required documentation includes a fully completed "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate Authorization Form, a copy of the signed and dated Purchase Agreement, and a completed Warranty Registration Card. Retail customer signature is required on all forms. A fully completed "Sea to Shining Sea" fuel rebate Authorization Form with a copy of the signed and dated Purchase Agreement must be sent to Winnebago Industries, Attention: Sales Department and postmarked by July 30, 2008.
As Dave reported earlier, it is participation optional among the dealers. Note the "participating dealers" language I highlighted for you. Obviously, this is an incentive program from Winnebago to the dealers to help move inventory on the dealer lots and get orders to the factory. It does not seem all that difficult to understand.
Well I know one thing for sure . . . were I buying an RV in the current market my dealer would be giving me $1500.00 of whether he was participating or not or I'd head elsewhere!

So what happened to the 18 mpg that the dealers are promising? I just took possession of my 2008 View and am only getting 14 mpg or less. I am soooo pissed!!!
Baby Mo, how fast are you driving? I keep it to 60 and am getting 15-16 mpg. That was also mountain driving in Tennessee. If you try to drive it 65-70, your mileage will suffer. If your dealer did in fact "promies" you 18 mpg, then you were lied to. These 3.0 turbo diesels don't get that kind of mileage.
