We haven't stayed there but have been past it. Looks about typical for what you'll find in the Pigeon Forge area but has the plus of not being right on the main strip for a little less noise. The place gets good reviews on rvparkreviews.com and is close to many attractions so it should work out well for you.

Unless you just have to have hook-ups and all the ammenities; don't miss Cades Cove area and the campground inside the National Park. Its about 25 miles from Gatlinburg into the interior of Great Smokey Mt NP but you can really experience the Park and its natural beauty instead of just being stuck in the tourist trap town area(my biased opinion). Or, closer to Gatlinburg(if you really must waste time there)is also Elkmont Campground inside the Park.

Over 10,000,000 visitors per year 'waste time' in Gatlinburg. Guess they're all crazy. But I love every one of them when my property tax bill comes in each year!

So the real question is....an informal poll if you will...
Little River KOA in Townsend, or Twin Creek in Gatlinburg.
I personally like the drive along the little river from Townsend to Gatlinburg through the Smokey National Park

We were there in November and really liked it. You can catch the trolley out by the road and not have to pay to park downtown.

Never stayed at that KOA in Townsend but have stayed down the road at Tremont Hills twice and give it a thumbs up.
If the choice was between any campground in Townsend or the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, Townsend gets my vote. Much more peaceful and quiet. You won't mind driving into Pigeon Forge either. Very scenic as mentioned.

Townsend is much quieter and removed from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge. Depends on what you are looking for. Gatlinburg is a fun little town in comparison to PF. Twin Creeks is located away from the town some distance which is nice, yet as stated accesible by trolley. If you are going to frequent Cades Cove, Townsend is much closer. TC is closer to Roaring Fork or the main road thru the Park to New Found Gap etc. We like to stay in Elkmont, in the Park (no hookups) and still close enough to town for evening ice cream or shopping or supplies. Don't miss Hillbilly Golf a family must! Each spring break for the last 14 years we have come, tradition! Tell us what you like to do and we can steer ya in where to go. Have a great time, it is BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!!
