Need recommendation for which lot to reserve. Went several years ago with DS (8 years old) and his friend and dad. Stayed in Lot 1A (I think) because it looked closer to the track (It was still far away). Well needless to say, the boys had an interesting anatomy lesson. It was way too rough of a crowd. We want to reserve an RV spot this year and remember someone telling us that there are "better" areas at the Indy 500 to camp that are more conducive to family/kids. Some even have shade... Does anyone have sepecifics on these? Thanks.

Lot #4, which is located just outside turn 4 is the "calmest" campground at Indy.
Specific spaces aren't reserved, just a 20X40 site. You have to arrive early to get in the shaded area.

I agree, Lot 4, get there early. We were next to the big tree near the house in 2006.

safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting "Wow, what a ride!".

I always stayed by turn 4 also. I cannot say how family friendly anyplace is now but I will say it was a lot wilder 20-30 years ago and seemd to calm down each year. I stopped going about 10 years ago.

Thanks everyone. I've taken your advise and made a reservation in Lot 4-A. The reservation lady at the track also said this was "tamer" than the general 1 - A lots. I appreciate all your suggestions.
