I would seriously look into a wireless speaker system, like a 900 Mhz system. Some of them sound pretty good. On my 5er it would be a piece of cake to get the wire into the basement but I'm not interested in outside speakers, besides DW would probably shoot me for playing music outside. I have gotten good and comfortable in my chair outside with my Mp3 player and ear buds, that does not bother her.

If you want to listen to music while camping, get an Ipod.

I agree that the music might upset others campers IF you are camping in an area with others. Often I end up boondocking away from every one else or just a group of like minded folks. And the speakers would be nice when you camp with a group of buddies. The again I'd get them then use them when ever you are not going to piss off the neighbors!

Yeah, so I'm not at a public camping ground. I own a skydiving school on a private airport. There's nobody on the airport but us. When I haul my trailer elsewhere, my goal is to get away from people, not to "live" 10 feet or so from them. I do an annual trip to Montana, where I spend some substantial time towing on dirt roads to get to a location far from civilization. I've also got a boondocking trip planned for above the snowline late this fall. If by chance I find myself parked in some public park, I'll be sure to leave the exterior speakers off. I expect such a weekend is some years out, and until then, I'd like to be able to sit outside the trailer and enjoy some music and conversation while also taking in the view.

Dave

I keep a pair of speakers in the cabinet. On the rare occasion that I want to use them I have 30 feet of wire and I have some jacks behind the outdoor cover behind the fridge. I plug them in there. That way I did not have to run any permanent wires at all. The radio is directly over the fridge.

If someone else is playing music that I can hear and do not like, then I turn mine on loud enough that I can no longer hear theirs.

I was thinking you might just put a speaker inside the front and rear storage compartments - you could build a "cage" around them to keep other stuff from hitting them and it would keep them out of the elements. It would put the speakers further toward the ends of the trailer too. This also wouldn't require cutting holes on the outside of the trailer. You just open the compartment doors and crank up the stereo. Anyway, just looked at your rig pic and can't see a rear compartment, unless there is one hidden behind that tree there.

We "camp" plenty of times at Softball tournments... boondocking in parking lots with other member's of my daughter's teams.

We enjoy the outside speakers on our TT... and so does the rest of the team... as we listen over the sounds of 5 or 6 generators humming.

I was thinking of doing the same thing (making holes in the side of the trailer)until I found a set of wireless speakers. They're great! I can move the speakers to where I want them and can keep the volume down so I don't bother the neighbors (as much, anyway) Best of all, I can take them inside, out of the elements when we're done or use them at home on the deck / patio.

This is an easy one Run the wires UNDER your RV and then you can hook your outdoor speakers when you get the the site.

My StarCraft has outside speakers and I love them! Of course you should always repect your neighbours and usually up here in Ontario at our Provincial Parks they may be 300ft away!

Here's a link to a guy over on the HTT who did his.
