Camping last night our dog Diesel ran under our 5'er & gave himself a nice open wound on his left shoulder. He got caught on the rail (chanmnel) for the slideout. Just a friendly reminder that the underside of campers can also injure a dog. He didn't need stiches but he is on antibiotics & will heal.

Poor Diesel...that's probably not something that most would think about.
Good advice, lots of dogs like to lay under there for the shade.
Thanks for the heads up.

Yes beware, Oreo cut her head on the slide out. We had the fifth parked behind our house with slides extended; she was running full speed when we heard a yelp, we called her and she had a good gash right on the top of her head. She healed with no problems but sure made us aware of the danger of those sharp corners on the slide outs.

If you have a pet that likes to sleep under the vehicle on a hot day, also be sure to look under it any time that you move it. My sister lost her Cairn terrier a few years ago when they were camping and Gizmo was snoozing under the truck in the shade. Her husband started up the truck for a drive into town and Gizzy got run over when he pullled out. He was too old to get up and move quickly enough when he heard the truck start.

Now they are in the habit looking under any and every vehicle every time that they start it. Erik will even look under his vehicles before he starts it in the grocery store parking lot.

He is starting to scratch it open & bite it so the cone is now on. I don't know if it's cause of his injury or what but he actually was really good this weekend camping & didn't act aggressive towards anyone. I hope that keeps up.

Thank you for the advice. I never even thought of that. Our dogs go under the trailer all the time. I think our pom will be fine, but the other two, well they could get hurt.
