In July we will be staying at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach. My wife will be taking an on-line course and will need internet access.

I searched the forums for info on the WiFi at Pirateland but the information was a little dated. Has anyone been lately who could let me know how the WiFi is working and the signal strength. We will be staying on the beach side. The cost is somewhat immaterial given the convenience of having internet in the RV but I would be curious as to what they are currently charging?

Thanks for your help.

They didn't have it last year and I still don't see it on their web site. http://www.pirateland.com/amenities.html

We just came back from Pirateland in Mar. We were beach front also. The WI FI is operated by an outside company and it did not work at the beach area. We had to go to the office. While we were there though, I do recall them changing something and beginning to charge for use. We were able to get on free when we first pulled in. We were there for 5 days. I believe they changed it on Sat.

Last July we had marginal at best WiFi on the beach at Pirateland. They have access points at each bathhouse. I found that you can access any of them from the list that comes up when you do a search for WiFi. If you follow the map from the campground the WiFi names or numbers match the bathhouse numbers. What I found was that the bathhouse closest to you was not always the best signal. We had Internet but not always, it went from 5.5 mpbs to 36 mpbs then to nothing with no notice. Like most places time of day makes a big difference, and when the weather is bad I guess more people are on the Internet checking weather or just surfing. Good luck. I would suggest if you need a dependable service check on an air card provider. We do not have one yet but see the day when that will be the way to go for all RV's.

As always, thanks for the links and the information about the WiFi at Pirateland. I guess we will see how it is working when we get there but thanks for the info in advance.

We were just there about 3 weeks ago. WIFI was fine. We were about 5 spots from the beach. The charge was about $9.95 per day. As mentioned earlier, they have different connections based on what router you are near. During the summer I am going to guess that there might be a slowdown due to heavy usage. If you have a wilreless card from one of the cell companies they work well in MB. Cingular appears to have their 3G broadband service there.
