Camping with my children while visiting the amusement park and water park at Cedar Point. We've heard bad reviews about their on-site campground. Any recommendations for campgrounds located relatively close by?
How about the State Park nearby? I think it is called Eastside?
There's nothing wrong with the full hookup sites at Cedar Point (except the price). The water only sites in the old section leave much to be desired, however. We always stay in the new section with full hookups and never have had a problem.

I'm not sure where you found those bad reviews, but everything I've read has been positive. We've been there two or three times ourselves and find it to be quite nice -- our only complaint would be cost.
We stayed in Camper Villiage last year and had a great time! Of course, we spend so much time in the park, by the time we got back to the campsite, all we did was bathe, eat and go to bed. It was an exhusting 4 days and one we'd love to do again some day.
There are a lot of advantages to staying at CP... early entry time, not sitting in traffic trying to get in/out of the park and being able to go back to the camper for lunch. I think if you consider the cost of gas and parking, you'll see tht that eventhough CP may be a more $$, it's probably worht it - I know it was for us.

We have camped at Cedar Point's campground several times with no complaints. Very convenient to the park, and the pool is open 24 hours!
Try to get the sites over near the pool, they seem larger and more convenient.
The only issue I had was one time I had a tree that attracted some type of very small birds--many of them--right over my Truck. I don't know what they were eating, but my truck was covered with droppings that stuck like glue!

the state park is east harbor. very nice campground but around a half hour or so from cedar point. thats were we stay for a week but only go to cedar point for one day. cost about $30.00 a night for 6 people on your site. lots of biking trails, beach in the park if you want that type stuff also. plenty to keep you busy for a week if staying that long. any questions PM me.
We camped at CP many times and thought it was great. The newer, full hook-up pull thru sites are very nice. Best of all is that it is just steps from the entrance to the park and the water park. I think you can get a pass that lets campers and motel guests in an hour earlier to beat the rush. Stay at CP, no driving, no hassle.
