Based on your description of your modification, you should be fine, but if Jayco or the fridge manufacturer wants to find someone else to blame, you could be in the line of fire. This will be a good test of their character. You will have to share with everyone how this plays out for you.

About your pictures. That is a very good idea. Be sure the pictures are "Date Coded". I would also take some video footage, inside and out. Not only for legal support, but one day when you sell the thing to another, the fire will undoughtedly be discussed. You can show that the damage was limited to the slide, and there is no smoke damage in the coach. It would put the buyer at ease, seeing for themself, what was damaged, and what was NOT damaged.

I am sorry to hear of your story, and hope all works out well for you. Hopefully in the end, everyone is still on good terms....you with the dealer and with Jayco.

Doug,

Wow!!! I also have a 33DS model so will be VERY interested to see how this story plays out. I haven't had problems specifically with the fridge but I had some BAD problems with a damaged LPG supply line (the one that moves in and out when the slideout moves). AMEN to the suggestions of many-many pictures and get them posted and out in circulation. Good luck with everything.

Crazy if you ask me, putting a LPG line on a slideout.
That's just asking for trouble.

Saturday I went out to the rig and ran everything in it...Refrigerator works fine.....And like Doug I have removed the dinette and have 2 leather recliners in that space...I also had to have the electrical outlet repositioned...I can't see where doing that would have any connection with the refrigerator catching fire.

update.

Looks like Jayco is going to cover this and the dealer is going to pick up the MH and do the work once the details are worked out. Jayco wants my insurance carrier to do a inspection and be the third party for any issues that may arise between me and Jayco.

That sounds fairly reasonable. Sorry for you incident. That stinks. Especially this time of year.

If the cause of the fire was with the LP system on the fridge I can't possibly imagine how moving the AC connection could affect anything. I have to agree with the above though . . . having an LP connection in the slide-out doesn't seem like the best plan. I guess that is the price of innovation.

Hey, did you read this:

http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/21412510.cfm

There is a recall that may apply to yours, and may have been the cause of the fire.

I just Googled your make and model and there is a recall for a liquid propane clamp in the slide scheduled for May 08. Hope this issue is being resolved to your satisfaction.

Confirmed, this is Jayco's thinking also. I did find a crack in the gas adapter fitting inside the lower fridge compartment and have emailed a picture on to Jayco.

As far as resolution, everything is moving along fine. The time of year for this to happen sucks but I guess that is life and at this time everyone involved is just happy that no one was hurt.
