Can anyone suggest a campground close to the beach and not a parking lot? I would be interested in others experiences.

Thanks very much,
Ellie

Thanks, how close are the sites from the beach? Can you hear the ocean?

I looked it up online but cannot tell.
Thanks,
Ellie

You can hear the Ocean, but the campground is on the East side of 101. Very easy walk to the beach on a trail that goes along a lagoon, the trail goes under 101 so you don't have to worry about crossing. The campground also sits below the level of 101, so the road noise is not annoying. Great park with very clean restrooms and nice staff as mentioned, we would stay again without hesitation.
If you want to stay South of Gold Beach near Brookings, Harris Beach State Park is great. The sites are nice and you can walk to the beach on good trails. There are some tide pools there as well that are fun to explore.

Honeybears RV Park is across from the beach. You just have to walk across Hwy 101 to get to the beach.
Resturant at Honeybears

We didn't stay there, but had dinner at their resturant, buffet style,so we had a good look at the park setting. Its not a parking lot.

While in Gold Beach try out the jet boat ride,we had a blast on Jerrys Jet boats rides

Thanks, I did see the Harris Beach one. I like state parks and stay at them mostly so that one really looks good to me.

We ate at that restaurant last time. Good German food.

Thanks so much ,

Humbug Mountain State Park, 20 miles north of Gold Beach. From the B loop, just walk under Hwy 101, along the creek, to the ocean, a short distance. There is Hwy noise at the campground. The setting is creekside with a view of Humbug Mountain from many sites.
This park has easier beach access than Harris beach, and closer to the beach than Sunset Bay. I don't think finding a site will be a problem any day of the week, or month. I think it's $16. a night. There are several pull-thrus. Even the A loop is a short distance from the beach.

Was at Harris Beach last October. Lots of very good campsites with good privacy. Beach is accessible down a trail. DW and I celebrated our 25th anniversary there. (So did the dogs, but they didn't get any champagne.)

We loved Four Seasons RV Park about 7 miles inland right on the Rogue River. The jet boats will pick you up right at the park if you want to cruise the river.
There are a half dozen spots right next to the river, nice owner and friendly atmosphere!
